Over the last few months, there has been increased ICE presence throughout the Midwest, including Chicago and Minneapolis-St. Paul. In 2026 so far, ICE has taken the lives of nine people (that we know of) and kidnapped and imprisoned thousands, including taking children from their parents. In all of this horror, our world rising up- a world built on genocide and enslavement, that recognizes our future must not continue this way. A world that knows children are to be protected, that land is sacred, and that travel and movement are human rights.
🔥From religious leaders protesting at detention centers imprisoning people
🔥To Somali aunties feeding their neighbors
🔥To bail funds and community jail support networks liberating people
🔥To Indigenous bodies banning federal agents from reservations
🔥To midnight noise campaigns outside of the hotels housing ICE kidnappers
We can see the most powerful protective actions come from working in community in with our arms linked.
It can be hard to be brave alone, so we included resources in this post for different types of community action against ICE. There is a general strike this Friday (1/30) to use our labor and purchasing power to stand up to ICE and the billionaires that support them. We know that not everyone can call off work or school but if you’re able, please join us in the strike. No work, no school, no shopping. Check out one of the groups in this post for actions you can take while striking. We can make brave choices knowing that our safety is collective, not individual.
