We have activated a new membership! With eleven in-person, four on Zoom, a total of 15 in attendance, of which 14 were Hawaiian and 1 Hawaiian at heart. We made Quorum! This is what the future looks like as we continue to grow! With a clear focus on our mission to uphold the Legacy of our Beloved Ke Ali`i Victoria Ka`iulani Hawaiian Civic Club-Chicago, motivated by a strong purpose to serve the Kanaka Maoli community in Chicago. HI, UT, NV, OH, and the Northeast region of IL are represented. We shared mo`olelo, mana`o, and a feast, with food provided by another Club member and the owners of AO Hawaiian Hideout. Māhalo that, Betty:) This is how we will continue to grow. `Onipa`a!

The Aloha Center Chicago ACC, as a Native Hawaiian organization, is here for our people. Kãnaka Maoli of Chicago-Midwest. And those who identify themselves as Hawaiians at heart. We are here to nurture the growth of the community as Chicago’s Kā Piko, a collective of Native Hawaiian organizations born of the second wave of Kānaka in Chicago since the mid-twentieth century, and represent Kānaka Maoli by standing firm in the values and traditions of Hawai`i.
As we continue to perpetuate, preserve, and protect traditional expressions of Hawai`i in Chicago, we are motivated to learn more about our growing Hawaiian communities in Chicago’s Metropolitan area and the Midwest region. To reconnect with those who have been here, to provide opportunities for more Hawaiians to gather, meet new friends of aloha, and share mo`oleleo (stories) of `ohana and of eating our favorite island foods. Today, 52% of Hawaiians now reside mostly on the Continent. And they are heading makāhikina (east)!
