Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry — Chicago Office was proud to partner in the October 8 book launch and signing celebrating Maria Pappas, a longtime public servant and the elected Treasurer of Cook County.

First elected in 1998, Maria has served Cook County for decades, overseeing the collection, investment, and distribution of property tax revenue. A trailblazer in public service, she has championed transparency, modernization, and community outreach. The event offered a wonderful opportunity to celebrate her career, hear about her book, and connect with the Romanian-American community.

🇷🇴🇺🇸 The Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry – Chicago Office was honored to join Consulatul General al României la Chicago, Mr. Lucian-Ilie Stănică and the President of Romotana Mr. Marcel Șomfelean, for a visit to American Aluminum Extrusion in Roscoe, Illinois.
Representing the Chicago Office of the Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Bogdan Jaba took part in the visit and in the discussions with Mr. Sam Popa, CEO of American Aluminum Extrusion and a successful Romanian-American entrepreneur.

The visit offered an opportunity to learn more about the company’s manufacturing operations, production capabilities, and continued growth in the American trailer industry. American Aluminum Extrusion is an inspiring example of Romanian entrepreneurial success and innovation in the United States.

The discussions addressed:

- business development and future expansion;
- investment and partnership opportunities;
- support for Romanian-owned businesses in the United States;
- strengthening commercial and economic relations between Romania and the United States.

Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry – Chicago Office attended, on Tuesday, August 4, at the invitation of the Consulatul General al României la Chicago, a meeting dedicated to organizing the Romanian Community Summit 2026.

We continue to support the “Number 1 Romanian Community” initiative launched by Mr. Lucian-Ilie Stănică, Consul General of Romania in Chicago, and we recognize that this project is becoming a reality with each passing day.

Last but not least, as in previous years, we reaffirm our position as Strategic Partners of the Romanian Community Summit 2026.

Delegația din Lansing, Michigan, în vizită la 𝐏𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐥 𝐂𝐂𝐈𝐁

Președintele Camerei de Comerț și Industrie a Municipiului București (𝐂𝐂𝐈𝐁), domnul
Iuliu Stocklosa, a primit la 𝐏𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐥 𝐂𝐂𝐈𝐁 vizita unei delegații a orașului Lansing (statul
Michigan) condusă de domnul Andy Schor, primar.

Printre participanții la întâlnire s-au numărat domnul Nicolai Ianoș, Consul Onorific
al României în Detroit, Michigan, domnul Marcel Somfelean, președinte al Asociației
Transportatorilor Români și Moldoveni din America de Nord (ROMOTANA), domnul Ilie Stănică, consilier al președintelui 𝐂𝐂𝐈𝐁, precum și doamna Gabriela Iftene, director executiv al 𝐂𝐂𝐈𝐁, alături de reprezentanții Departamentului Relații Internaționale al Camerei.
În deschiderea întâlnirii, președintele 𝐂𝐂𝐈𝐁 a prezentat oaspeților Palatul și repere importante din istoria instituției, evidențiind rolul pe care Camera îl joacă în sprijinirea mediului de afaceri și în dezvoltarea relațiilor economice internaționale. Totodată, domnul Iuliu Stocklosa a subliniat importanța parteneriatului strategic dintre România și Statele Unite ale Americii, arătând că acesta oferă un cadru solid pentru consolidarea relațiilor economice bilaterale, stimularea investițiilor și extinderea cooperării dintre comunitățile de afaceri din cele două țări. În acest context, 𝐂𝐂𝐈𝐁 continuă să susțină inițiativele menite să faciliteze dialogul economic și identificarea de noi oportunități de colaborare între partenerii români și americani.

În cadrul întâlnirii, reprezentanții 𝐂𝐂𝐈𝐁 au prezentat planurile privind organizarea unei viitoare misiuni economice în America Latină. Cu acest prilej, primarul Andy Schor a adresat invitația ca delegația 𝐂𝐂𝐈𝐁 să includă și o etapă în statul Michigan, în vederea explorării unor noi oportunități de cooperare între comunitățile de afaceri din cele două regiuni.
Întâlnirea s-a încheiat cu o vizită a 𝐏𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐥 𝐂𝐂𝐈𝐁 , oferind delegației americane ocazia de a descoperi patrimoniul arhitectural și istoria uneia dintre cele mai reprezentative instituții ale mediului de afaceri din România.

Strengthening Ties with the Republic of Moldova! 🇷🇴🇲🇩
We are pleased to share that Mr. Bogdan Jaba, Head of the CCIB Representation Office in Chicago, recently met with Mr. Sergiu Harea, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Moldova.
Also present at the meeting was Mr. Marcel Somfelean, President of ROMOTANA (Association of Romanian and Moldovan Transporters in North America).
The discussions focused on enhancing economic cooperation, supporting Romanian and Moldovan businesses in the North American market, and exploring new trade and investment opportunities between our communities.
The CCIB Chicago Office remains committed to building strong bridges and promoting the interests of Romanian companies abroad through active international partnerships.

CCIB Chicago Office – Back in Bucharest!
Proud to share that Mr. Bogdan Jaba Head of our CCIB Representation Office in Chicago, is visiting Bucharest this week.
During his meetings at CCIB headquarters with President Iuliu Stocklosa and the CCIB team, key topics included expanding support for Romanian companies in the U.S. market, new investment opportunities, and strengthening bilateral economic relations.
The Chicago Office continues its mission as an active bridge between Romania and North America.

Șeful Biroului de Reprezentare 𝐂𝐂𝐈𝐁 la Chicago, în vizită la București

Camera de Comerț și Industrie a Municipiului București (𝐂𝐂𝐈𝐁) a primit vizita domnului Bogdan Jaba, șeful Biroului de Reprezentare al 𝐂𝐂𝐈𝐁 la Chicago. La întâlnire au participat domnul Marcel Șomfelean, președinte al Asociației Transportatorilor Români și Moldoveni din America de Nord (ROMOTANA), domnul Ilie Stănică, consilier al președintelui, precum și doamna Gabriela Iftene, director executiv al 𝐂𝐂𝐈𝐁, alături de reprezentanții Departamentului Relații Internaționale al Camerei.

În cadrul întâlnirii cu președintele 𝐂𝐂𝐈𝐁, domnul Iuliu Stocklosa, au fost analizate direcțiile de acțiune pentru consolidarea prezenței și promovării mediului de afaceri românesc pe piața americană. Totodată, domnul Bogdan Jaba și-a reafirmat angajamentul de a continua activitatea Biroului de Reprezentare din Chicago și a prezentat principalele demersuri desfășurate în vederea dezvoltării relațiilor economice dintre România și Statele Unite ale Americii.
Discuțiile au vizat rolul Biroului de Reprezentare în susținerea procesului de internaționalizare a companiilor românești, identificarea de noi oportunități comerciale și investiționale, precum și consolidarea cooperării cu autorități locale, camere de comerț, organizații economice și alte instituții relevante din SUA.

Președintele 𝐂𝐂𝐈𝐁, domnul Iuliu Stocklosa, a subliniat importanța activității birourilor de reprezentare externe ale Camerei, acestea contribuind la promovarea intereselor economice ale României și ale comunității de afaceri bucureștene, la creșterea vizibilității internaționale a CCIB și la facilitarea contactelor dintre companiile românești și partenerii externi.
La rândul său, domnul Bogdan Jaba a evidențiat interesul manifestat de mediul de afaceri american pentru oportunitățile existente în România și a reafirmat disponibilitatea Biroului de Reprezentare 𝐂𝐂𝐈𝐁 la Chicago de a sprijini dezvoltarea de noi parteneriate economice, atragerea de investiții și promovarea schimburilor comerciale bilaterale.
Întâlnirea s-a înscris în seria demersurilor întreprinse de 𝐂𝐂𝐈𝐁 pentru consolidarea rețelei sale internaționale de reprezentare și pentru susținerea companiilor românești în procesul de extindere pe piețele externe.

The Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry – Chicago Office was honored to participate in Transport Without Borders – Summit 2026, held on June 9, 2026, at the European Parliament in Brussels.

Representing the Chicago Office, Bogdan Jaba, Head of the Chicago Office, joined policymakers, business leaders, transportation professionals, and community representatives from across Europe and North America to discuss regional connectivity, economic resilience, and international cooperation.

The event marked a historic milestone as the first event organized by a Romanian and Moldovan organization from the United States to be hosted at the European Parliament. Organized by MEP Ștefan Musoiu and ROMOTANA, the summit brought together more than 140 participants from over 15 countries.

The Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry – Chicago Office congratulates the organizers for creating an exceptional platform for dialogue and collaboration, strengthening the ties between Romania, Moldova, the European Union, and the Romanian diaspora worldwide.
