Yesterday, our final group of vacationing older adults returned from their summer getaway to Audrey’s House. It was a beautiful summer of 9 weeks of vacations, enabling older adults to spend time relaxing away from the city, making new friends and having new experiences. As summer wraps up, we know we'll carry these great memories into fall and beyond.

Happy birthday to all our older friends born in the month of August! We celebrated with a party on Saturday, which featured a delicious lunch by , gifts, and cake. Most of all, we came together to enjoy warm conversations and friendship. Older adults who can’t leave home for parties will receive special birthday visits from staff and volunteers throughout the month. We celebrate every birthday at LBFE Chicago!

Highlights at Audrey’s House this week included new friends, vacation memories, and a special tea party visit with our older friends who travel to Audrey’s House for the day. These day trips allow more older adults with different needs to enjoy time at Audrey’s House and bring even more new friends to the older adults on vacation! LBFE older adult Margo recommends the day trips to others. “It's a nice outing. Get out the house and do something besides watching TV all day.”

Another group is off to vacation at Audrey’s House this week. We recently chatted with our older friend Barbara about her first LBFE vacation, last year. She hadn’t known any of the other vacationers before the trip. “I didn't know any of them, but I loved having some good friends,” she said. Now, throughout the year at LBFE, she keeps an eye out for familiar faces from vacation. “I’ll see them...or make new friends.”
