In 2015, Paulina’s life took a sharp turn when she was diagnosed with cancer. Everything she had planned was suddenly placed on hold, and she made the brave decision to leave college in Chicago behind. Instead, she leaned into the passion that had always been there - her art.
Cancer changed her world in ways that were painful and heavy, but it also gave her a new perspective. She realized how precious time was and decided to live fully, chasing the dreams she had once put aside. Soon after, she moved to Poland to discover her roots, She had spent many summers there as a child, but never truly lived there.
Living there allowed her to connect with her heritage in a deeper way, finding comfort and inspiration in the language, the culture, and the familiar streets she had once only visited. It wasn’t easy, there were days when her body and spirit felt weighed down, but Paulina carried a strength that made her art even more powerful. Every collage, photograph, and sketch reflected not only her creativity, but also her resilience. Poland became her canvas, a place where she could heal, explore, and build a life rooted in both past and future. She turned hardship into fuel, and her art blossomed because of it.
