CAPOW stands for:
Citizens Act to Protect Our Water
We believe that access to fresh water is a natural human right and must be protected by constitutional law. Crimes against humanity have been committed by industries having recklessly polluted, and corporations having thievishly privatized, the earth’s fresh water resources. We cannot live more than a few days without fresh water. If we don’t
have access to fresh water we will die. If water supplies are contaminated we will get sick. Securing access to fresh water is a primary need for survival that has been shared by all people and civilizations in the course of human history. Water is one of our most precious commodities and is an indispensable asset to all life on earth. It is of utmost importance for people to protect the quality of our water in order to secure our health and survival as human beings and maintain the development of our civilization. Unfortunately many industries recklessly treat our vital water resources as a sewer for dumping toxic chemicals and disposing other non-biodegradable pollutants thus contaminating the water supply, destroying ecological systems, and causing harm to the planet, wildlife, and human beings. Toxic chemicals are getting into the drinking water that cause hormone disruptions, cancers, and birth defects. People are getting sick because their water sources are dangerously contaminated. Corporations have stolen the rights to own and lease water resources and have privatized our collective life support systems as a way to make a financial profit. The only incentive these corporations have is greed and the only motivation they have is to make money. These corporations don’t care about people or the environment. Water is a natural resource that belongs to the Earth and all inhabitants. Water is not private property that can be owned by a corporation. Water is a precious resource and sacred life force of priceless value and utmost importance. We are calling on people to get involved in protecting our vital water resources through direct local action and widespread community mobilization. HERE ARE WAYS YOU CAN HELP:
