Today is Indigenous Peoples’ Day. 🌍
Yesterday at the 15th Annual Chicago Day of the Girl, our Circle of Champions honoree Colon Celia of G.O.D. Giving Others Dreams TM opened our circle with a land acknowledgment — reminding us that the ground we gathered on has always belonged to the original stewards of this land.
Solidarity is not a hashtag. It is a practice. It is what we center when Black and Brown girls gather to claim their own narratives.

We see you.
We honor you.

In 2012, the UN named October 11 for girls, and Girls Like Me Project made sure Chicago’s girls felt like this was our day, too.

GLMPI has spent the past 14 years building developmental infrastructure for Black girlhood—- for Chicago and as far as Ghana.

We have developed a lived, tested approach
to narrative power, media literacy,
and Black girlhood liberation.
What has been clear and consistent, is this work can never be done alone.
It takes a village!

That’s why we are giving girls advocates, healers, and access makers their crowns.
Allow us to introduce our Circle of Champions.
We introduce them now…
