Today was the final day of our amazing interns, Evelyn and Mercury, who contributed across every corner of our work with excellence, initiative, and a genuine commitment to advancing the GLMPI mission. From supporting programs and storytelling to helping amplify the voices of Black women and girls, they embraced every opportunity with purpose and heart.

We are deeply grateful for all they have poured into our organization and can’t wait to see where their journeys take them next.

A special thank you to the University of Chicago Internship for Civic Engagement Program for making this partnership possible and investing in the next generation of civic-minded leaders.

Thank you, Evelyn and Mercury—you will always be part of the GLMPI family. Wishing you both continued success! 💜✨

Some highlights from GLMPI’s Media Correspondence at From The ‘GO Fest hosted by truestar!

Our young media correspondents were on the scene capturing moments, creating content, and sharpening their storytelling skills while covering an amazing day of music, culture, and community. We’re proud of the confidence, creativity, and professionalism they continue to display.
Keep shining, ladies! 💜🎤📸

Understanding Black women’s history means examining every part of their lived experience—including how enslaved women navigated menstruation with limited resources, little privacy, and no relief from labor.
This history is about survival, community care, bodily dignity, and resilience.
