Friends of Prentice We fund groundbreaking research to improve women’s health throughout her life.

Friends of Prentice harnesses the creativity and resources of a diverse and engaged volunteer board, sharing a common passion for women's health. Working in partnership with Northwestern Memorial Hospital's Prentice Women's Hospital, our organization advances the quality of care provided to women by investing in emerging technologies and medical advancements including ground breaking research, clinical care programs and advanced educational opportunities. We nurture a proud legacy of philanthropy and volunteerism as we strive to improve health and wellness throughout the arc of a woman's life.

The countdown is ON! We’re just one week away from celebrating 40 years of Friends of Prentice with our incredible community at The Drake Hotel (The Drake Hotel). To everyone who has been part of this journey, thank you for being the spark that ignites early-stage research and helps fuel the future of life-changing women’s healthcare. We wouldn’t be here without you! 

We’re so excited to celebrate how far we’ve come, honor the people who made it possible, and look ahead to all that’s still to come.

Women’s health research needs more investment. We’re working to change that. 💜

Our Executive Director Kristen Field (Kristen Elizabeth Field) joined FOX 32’s Chicago Live to talk about the gaps that still exist in women’s health research, the importance of funding promising ideas early, and what Friends of Prentice has helped make possible over the past 40 years.

THIS is why seed funding matters. 🔬

When Friends of Prentice funded grant recipient Dr. Julie Kim’s endometriosis research, the goal was to create a new way to study this complex and often misunderstood disease using patient-derived stem cells.

Today, that early investment has helped grow into something remarkable: a novel research platform and a new study published in Science Advances (𝙎𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 & 𝙏𝙚𝙘𝙝𝙣𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙮 𝘼𝙙𝙫𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙨), giving researchers a powerful new way to study the biology of endometriosis and what drives the disease.

This is what early-stage research can do. Give a promising idea a chance, create new possibilities, and pave the way for what comes next.

We’re officially one month out from our 40th Anniversary Celebration, and we cannot wait to fill The Drake Hotel with our Friends for a night of celebrating four decades of impact, community, and progress in women’s healthcare.

A little pre-celebration celebration. ✨Last week, some of our incredible Friends of Prentice board members gathered at the historic Drake Hotel (The Drake Hotel) for happy hour as we ramp up for our sold out 40th Anniversary Celebration on October 16!

From planning the details to soaking in the excitement, it was a fun reminder of the incredible people behind this organization and the community that makes it all possible. We can’t wait to gather with our Friends at The Drake and celebrate 40 years of impact. The countdown is officially on! 💜

We’re so proud to spotlight our grant recipient, board member, and friend, Dr. Teni Brown (Dr. Teni Brown | UROGYNECOLOGIST), for shining a light on a topic far too many women are told they simply have to live with. 💜

Last week on Chicago Live, Dr. Brown spoke about pelvic floor dysfunction and urinary incontinence, sharing an important reminder: “Just because it’s common doesn’t mean it’s normal.”

One in three women experience bladder control issues, yet many never seek care because they’ve been made to believe these symptoms are just part of life. Dr. Brown is helping change that conversation by encouraging women to speak up, talk to their providers, and understand that treatment options exist. This is exactly why women’s health research matters. At Friends of Prentice, we’re proud to support researchers and physicians like Dr. Brown who are advancing care while making space for more open, informed conversations about women’s health.

Thank you, Dr. Brown, for using your expertise and your voice to help women feel seen, heard, and empowered to seek the care they deserve. ✨

The countdown is ON, and we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate 40 years of Friends of Prentice with a full house at the historic Drake Hotel (The Drake Hotel) on Friday, October 16 at 6 PM. 💜

And we can officially share one more reason to get excited: Rendezvous (Rendezvous Music) will be bringing the music to the celebration! Dinner, dancing, incredible company, and a night honoring 40 years of impact. Black tie optional, celebration mandatory. 😉

We’re so grateful to everyone who helped make this milestone celebration SOLD OUT. We can’t wait to gather with our Friends and celebrate all we’ve accomplished together while looking ahead to what’s next.
