UIC Gender and Sexuality Center

UIC Gender and Sexuality Center UIC's Gender & Sexuality Center (GSC) provides and facilitates LGBTQA education, outreach, research, and support.

The Gender and Sexuality Center provides and facilitates le***an, gay, bisexual, transgender, q***r, intersex, asexual + (LGBTQIA+), and allied education, outreach, research, and support in order to create a more equitable and inclusive world for all. The GSC approaches this work with an appreciation for and sensitivity to the way that multiple and intersecting identities impact individuals’ exper

iences with and expressions of gender and sexual identity. Although the GSC is an identity-based Center focusing on gender identity and sexual orientation, we understand that identity has multiple dimensions and we continually consider race, class, ability, geography, immigrant status, religious affiliation, and other individual different factors in our activities and planning. Established in 1995 as the Office of GLB Concerns, the GSC is currently located on the first floor of the Behavioral Sciences Building. The Centers for Cultural Understanding and Social Change
The Gender & Sexuality Center is one of the six Centers for Cultural Understanding and Social Change at UIC reporting to the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Affairs in Academic Affairs. The six centers include: African-American Cultural Center, Asian American Resource and Cultural Center, Disability Resource Center, Gender and Sexuality Center, Rafael Cintrón Ortiz Latino Cultural Center, and Women’s Leadership and Resource Center. The most significant strengths of the Centers include their expertise in providing relevant support to their specific student, staff, and faculty populations and their capacity to provide education to the general campus. They are committed to connecting the experiences, needs, dreams, and commitments of diverse campus communities to advance our principle of making diversity a social asset.

📚QUASH Final Exam Anxiety with Q***r Autistic Study Hall
🗓️ Thursdays, April 16, 23, & 30
⏰ 2:00-3:15 PM
📍 In-Person, GSC Flex Space, 183 BSB

✨This Thursday and those leading up to finals, join us to study, build community, and chill.

To increase success rates, these study halls will be based on body-doubling. Body-doubling is working next to someone else even if you are completing different tasks. This phenomena is thought to increase autistic folx productivity because it creates an official start time, which reduces procrastination. And the presence of others fosters a sense of accountability. ✨
