In the well written words of our board member, Anastasia Golovashkina:

"On September 30, House Republicans voted to change House rules so that only Eric Cantor or John Boehner could call a vote on a clean continuing resolution, taking away the right of any other member to move to vote to reopen the government.

Meaning? Meaning that a majority vote isn't enough to stop this government shutdown. Meaning that it all hinges on the decisions of two men -- men who have thus far demonstrated exceptional incompetence and complete don't-give-a-f**kery about their obligations as elected leaders, their duties as citizens, and their roles as human beings.

"Democracy has been suspended, Mr. Speaker." "
