Northtown Garden Society - Chicago The Northtown Garden Society was established in 1982 by a group of concerned gardeners in the West Ridge Area of Chicago, IL.

It has grown over the years and provides community gardening education and maintains several gardens in neighborhood parks.

Tomorrow at the Irish American Heritage Center! 🐝🎶

"Creating a Buzz Bee & Honey Event"

Enjoy a one of a kind celebration with local vendors, live music, and
join Brenda Castles, creator and producer of the acclaimed short film Plight of the Bumble Bee, for a truly unique day celebrating nature, Irish folklore, music, and biodiversity.

The film explores the fascinating history of bees in Irish folklore and religion, the challenges they face today, and what we can all do to help protect them.

Schedule:
• 12:00 PM – Vendors open in the Hall, Fifth Province Pub open

• 1:00 PM – Kitchen opens

🎬 5:00 PM – Film Screening followed by a Q&A
Featuring a LIVE traditional Irish music soundtrack performed by:
• Brenda Castles
• Eimear Arkins
• Eileen Gannon

🎻 6:30 PM – Live Irish Music Session led by James Conway and Michael Austin in the Fifth Province Pub

The film features newly composed traditional Irish music by Brenda Castles, recipient of the 2025 Brian O’Donovan Award. Plight of the Bumble Bee was also shortlisted for the 2025 Powerscourt Nature Media Award.

Brenda Castles is an award-winning concertina player whose recent performances include Temple Bar TradFest, RTÉ’s Late Late Show, the Irish Museum of Modern Art’s Earth Rising Festival, and the National Concert Hall in Dublin.

The mini-fest and music session are FREE.
Film screening tickets: $15
