In collaboration with City Colleges of Chicago's Undocumented Student Liaison Team and Chicago Roadmap, the Office of School Counseling and Post Secondary Advising from Chicago Public Schools, will be hosting a virtual social event for any Chicago Public School Alumni (including Charter or Options) incoming or current, that identifies as undocumented or an immigrant student, to learn more about the support services being offered at the City Colleges of Chicago.

There will also be an opportunity for City College Students to meet and greet their Undocumented Liaison.

Another great time and resource sharing at our second NUSA (Network for Undocumented Scholarship Access) Meeting today! Special thank you to all our partners for attending our first fully in person meeting at Wright Humboldt Park Campus. Special guest speakers from Wright, Chicago Law and Education Foundation, and Laura Restrepo for her amazing work around the Sueños Scholarship!

Our next meeting is on October 10th. But, we might have a community social sometime sooner.

Dr. Berta Arias Writing Scholarship - Deadline March 31st!

The Dr. Berta Arias Writing Scholarship provides a (1) $1,000 scholarship to an undergraduate student who demonstrates a focus and passion for writing. The Dr. Berta Arias Writing Scholarship was created by Dr. Berta Isabel Arias, ILACHE’s first Board President, and a former college professor. As a Latina, Dr. Arias understands the many barriers to attaining academic success. Official recognition of the winners will take place at the annual ILACHE Conference.

The application and all supporting documents must be submitted to ILACHE by Friday, March 31, 2023, by 11:59pm Central Time.

Please review the eligibility criteria before you complete the application form.

Must be an undergraduate student and be enrolled full-time (12+ credits) during the Fall 2023 semester.

Must be in good academic standing with a current cumulative GPA of at least 3.00 from a regionally accredited Illinois college/university.

Must be able to provide (1) letter of recommendation from a teacher/faculty member who has taught the applicant in the classroom and/or laboratory setting and can attest to their academic ability.

Must be of Latinx descent; undocumented students, including DACA recipients, U.S. citizens (U.S. born or naturalized), and permanent legal residents are welcome to apply.
