Calling Senior High School Students in the Visual Arts! Deadline March 15th!!

The Society Incorporated - Supporting the Arts
National Emerging Artist Scholarships
Sponsored by: The Chicago Chapter for The Arts

$2,000 Emerging Artist scholarships to high school seniors in the categories of:

Visual Arts (graphic media and film)
Performing Arts (dance and theatrical)
Literary Arts (written and spoken word)
Musical Arts (vocal and instrumental)

• Write a 300-word essay explaining your interest and goals in your artistic field.
• Submit two (2) letters of recommendations from people who know you well and are knowledgeable about your artistic, scholastic and community service work. At least one of these letters must be from one of your high school teachers. Fellow students, friends, or family members will notbe accepted as references.
• The applicant must have a minimum 3.0 G.P.A., exhibit leadership ability and participate in community service activities. Provide a copy of your official transcript with the application.
• Submit an electronic representation of your work. This may be a photo of your art or written word or a video of your performance – audio visual production, spoken word, theatrical, dance or musical performance.
• Submit a photo of yourself with the application.

Incomplete applications will not be considered. Application Deadline March 15, 2023

We at the Chicago Chapter for The Arts of The Society, Incorporated thank you for supporting our mission. Thank you for supporting the 2022 Virtual Showcase: Harvesting the Cream of the Crop as We Empower Emerging Young Artists, a local spotlight and part of a national endeavor. Our primary goal is to support young people in The Arts. We do this by providing exposure to aspiring young artists in the form of local and national showcases; financial assistance for lessons and equipment; and scholarships for continued education. Local programming includes sponsoring attendance to arts events, master classes and meeting artists of all disciplines. Our local partners include the Chicago Multi-Cultural Dance Center (CMDC), Black Girls Dance , Merit School of Music , and the Musical Arts Institute along with other talented arts professionals.

The Society, Incorporated Supporting the Arts, in partnership with The Links, Incorporated, is pleased to host a special discussion with Honorary Friend, Jonathan Green at the launch of his new book release celebrating his art and inspiration entitled “Gullah Spirit: The Art of Jonathan Green” published by the University of South Carolina Press.

The goal of both organizations is to celebrate, educate and embrace the Gullah Spirit and champion the accomplishments of Jonathan Green as we seek to expand our programming opportunities in the area of The Arts.
