MESSAGE TO OUR CHICAGO CARIBBEAN CARNIVAL COMMUNITY

We want to address the comments surrounding this year’s Carnival Parade results.

Team Jamaica won first place fairly. The Chicago Caribbean Carnival Committee does not select the winner or determine the scores. The results come from the judges based on the established judging criteria, including pre-judging, parade-day judging, being ready and starting on time, creativity, costumes, choreography, music and sound, presentation, performance, and overall ex*****on.

Team B.A.D. placed 2nd place and also won People’s Choice, which is a significant accomplishment and should be celebrated.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. However, the negative comments toward Team Jamaica are disappointing and unnecessary.

A competition should not turn into division within our community. We can support our favorite bands without disrespecting another band’s victory.

We need to remember that Carnival is about culture, pride, celebration, and unity.

If we want our Carnival and Caribbean community to grow, we have to support each other, respect the results, and celebrate the hard work that every band puts into representing their culture.

Congratulations to Team Jamaica on 1st Place. 🏆🇯🇲

Congratulations to Team B.A.D. on 2nd Place and People’s Choice. 🏆

And congratulations to every band that participated and contributed to making Chicago Caribbean Carnival 2026 a success.

Let’s celebrate each other instead of tearing each other down.
