This Saturday, May 24 (11Am to 3PM), join , , and for a community bouldering session at Palmisano Park! This is a beginner friendly event intended to introduce the community to outdoor bouldering locally on the Southside of Chicago. After a safety discussion on the inherent risks associated with outdoor bouldering and best safety practices to mitigate those risks, we will open the boulders for climbing!
will throw down some crash pads, has graciously provided a demo fleet of climbing shoes, has kept us stocked with a big bucket of climbing chalk, and will come through with water and snacks; We will have everything you need for a great session at the Boulders!
If you are not climbing, we encourage you to explore Palmisano Park, the quarry pond, and take in its scenic views. Also, be sure to check out the table and learn more about the grassroots climbing festival being organized by the affinity groups in the greater Chicago climbing community. We are using this event as an opportunity to fundraise for the inaugural United in Devils Lake Climbing Festival in October. Come by the UiDL table, grab a hot dog off the grill, chat with our community leaders, and consider donating to the festival organizers!
