University Village Association

University Village Association At the heart of the neighborhood are the rich Italian-American traditions of the Taylor Street area, affectionately known as Chicago's Little Italy.

University Village Association (UVA), founded in 1981, is a community development organization located on Chicago's Near West Side in the historic Little Italy neighborhood. Next door are two world class facilities. One is the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) with its exciting urban campus, which includes the undergraduate and graduate schools, its world-class hospital, medical, dental and

nursing colleges, and research institutes among other specialties. The Illinois Medical District (IMD) borders the community's western edge and is the largest medical district in the country with its several hospitals, clinics, schools and other health-care related and technology centers. (Along with UIC Medical Center, Rush University Medical Center, the Illinois Medical District is also comprised of the John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital, the Jesse Brown Veteran's Administration Hospital, and several research institutes).
