Checking in from Rhodes Greece. 🇬🇷 Hope you’ve enjoyed the stream of pictures I’ve posted to the story. I love nature - being outside, hiking, thinking - whether it’s looking at the beach until I lose track of time, or obsessing over an isolated tree in the wilderness, or thinking about how goats survive in the wilderness, or how an old woman makes it down the hill in a village that shuts down from November through May.
🙌 For the last several years I’ve been blessed (I know, I know, I am the biggest critic of the movement!! But what other word is there to describe the abundant blessings of God on one’s life) anyway I’ve been blessed to spend 2 weeks in Europe - and lately Greece - with my mother and my sister and my nephew Sam.
Our excuse is that it’s my sister’s birthday in August, but honestly, we go because life is short, the days fleeting, and I’m the kind of person who would never stop and admire beauty even when it’s staring me in the face.
Even here in Greece I have worked - planned, prayed, dreamed - the mind doesn’t stop easily, but carving out times to rest is a start.
🙏 Wherever you are today, I hope my posts haven’t discouraged you by making you feel like you’ve missed out - life happens right where you are - enjoy these days, in Topeka or in Rhodes.
It’s God’s presence after all that brings us joy. Beauty is all around us.
