Iota Delta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

Iota Delta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. First of All, Servants of All, We Shall Transcend All Iota Delta Lambda (IDL) of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. was chartered on May 1, 1968.

Established during the Fraternity’s period of expansion under General President Walter Washington, IDL was Chicago’s second alumni chapter. As a young chapter, IDL struggled to establish itself in the Chicago community as an innovator in both the communal education and service arenas. After a few years the chapter fell into inactivity. Since its reactivation in 1980, IDL has maintained and built u

pon the spirit of innovation that inspired its founding. In 1981, IDL started a youth development initiative addressing adolescent pregnancy prevention from the male perspective called Project Alpha. Today, Project Alpha is the premier community service program for the entire Fraternity. It is co-sponsored annually with the national March of Dimes Foundation, which raises money to aid in the fight against birth defects in infants around the world.

informed voter is an empowered voter.

Education has always been one of the strongest tools in the fight for equality. Leaders like Thurgood Marshall used knowledge of the law and the Constitution to challenge injustice and expand civil rights for generations to come.

Understanding the ballot, researching candidates, and knowing the issues that impact your community helps ensure your vote reflects the future you want to see.

Primary Voting Day is Tuesday, March 17, 2026.
Make a plan. Bring someone with you. Vote.

Understanding the sacrifice means remembering what it cost to secure the right to vote.

During the Civil Rights Movement, peaceful demonstrators were beaten, jailed, and even killed for demanding equal access to the ballot. Moments like Bloody Sunday in Selma shocked the nation and helped lead to the passage of the Voting Rights Act.

Leaders like Andrew Young stood alongside countless activists, while individuals such as Jimmie Lee Jackson and Herbert Lee lost their lives fighting for basic voting rights.

Honor their memory. Exercise your power.

Primary Voting Day is Tuesday, March 17, 2026.

Make a plan. Bring someone with you. Vote.
