Camp Gan Israel of Greater Chicago Camp Gan Israel is a summer camp dedicated to enriching the lives of children from diverse Jewish backgrounds.

Our Divisions

Each of our summer programs are tailored to be age appropriate and flexible to serve the needs of each child. With each new division, children will encounter new adventures, excitement, and challenges, all built on the CGI hallmarks of safety, fun, and unconditional love. Main Division

Ages 6-9
Campers in our main division thrive in the positive Jewish atmosphere and spirit uniqu

e to “Gan Izzy”. Our bunks are led by qualified counselors who are committed to the safety and fun of all campers. Our main division features a full daily program with bi-weekly trips and specialty activities like Cooking, Sports, Arts and Crafts, and much more. In addition, swimming takes place twice a week under the careful supervision of certified lifeguards. Pioneers

Ages 10-11
For the budding tweens, the main division activities are spiced up with extra programs, such as team building activities, exciting overnights, additional trips, and of course the campers leave camp with the extraordinary warmth and friendships that are a natural result of a summer at CGI. The pioneer program is led by our highly qualified and trained counselors who are completely devoted and dedicated to giving their campers the summer of a lifetime. They are leaders who are excited to impart the timeless values of our heritage and tradition in a way that the campers are able to learn and appreciate them and most importantly, enjoy and take pride in the fact that they are the next link in Jewish History.

8 Day Overnight:
Gan Israel Overnight has provided the finest in recreational activity within an environment of living Judaism, for nearly two decades. Our unique physical and cultural programs have been instrumental in developing our campers appreciation for the outdoors as well as a greater awareness of their Jewish identity. Children learn that living away from home can be a fun-filled adventure, as well as a wonderful learning experience. It is also a time to take on more responsibilities, and to learn and enjoy activities that are not normally available at home. Many parents remark on how much their child has matured in the short time they have been at Gan Israel. As hundreds of former campers agree, Gan Israel provides happy memories that will last a lifetime. Trained professional instructors, certified by American Red Cross for CPR and first aid, supervise the best features of Gan Israel. Three tasty, nutritious meals are served family style prepared in our Glatt Kosher kitchens.

Week number ✌️in the books and what a week it was!! Even with 1 day off, our week was jam packed full with activities, specialities, and trips!!
This week also marked our annual Charidy Campaign where we raised $45,000 to continue our work in providing a Jewish, safe, and fun summer for all of our campers. Thank you to all who contributed during the campaign, your support means everything!!

Wow! What an incredible first week of our main session we had! 🥳🥳

Today, 3 Tammuz, marks the twenty-ninth anniversary of the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s passing.

Since his passing, interest in his teachings has grown and his influence is felt today more than ever.

The Rebbe’s prolific works are studied daily and have been translated into dozens of languages; his teachings continue to inspire on both an individual and communal level; and his insights, which seemed radical and revolutionary at the time, remain as fresh and relevant today as ever. The Rebbe was a visionary leader, and his impact on millions of lives around the globe is unmatched and continues to inspire renewed commitment and action.

Chassidism teaches that the day of a tzaddik’s passing is a holy day that elicits heavenly compassion for all those who to the tzaddik and to his teachings and activities.

On the anniversary of his passing, this year June 22, we invite you to celebrate the Rebbe's vision and honor his life's mission to elevate your surroundings with mitzvahs. As he always encouraged, it is up to each one of us to do one more mitzvah, one more good deed, to make this world a better place.
