Registration for Autumn I is now open!🍂 We are excited to unveil a refreshed curriculum designed to take you deeper into Japanese language and culture! Our reorganized classes are now more engaging and practical, offering a more meaningful way to connect with the language.✍

Due to high demand, we’ve added an extra section for Intro to Japanese Language & Culture I! Our second class will be held on Monday evenings from 7:30-9:30 pm.

Whether you are starting with our popular Intro course or challenging yourself in our Fluent Frontier class, it’s the perfect time for a fresh start!
If you are considering joining us, please register as soon as possible, as classes are subject to cancellation if minimum enrollment is not met.

Join Society members and guests for a Japanese celebration on September 6th as the Chicago Stars FC take on the North Carolina Courage at 3 PM at Northwestern Medicine Field at Martin Stadium.
Immerse yourself in Japanese culture with thrilling soccer action, captivating Japanese performances, and delectable Japanese treats.

Kimusubi, an internationally recognized Japanese Mizuhiki artist, teaches a hands-on workshop on Japanese decorative knot-tying. Her work reimagines the centuries-old tradition of Mizuhiki through contemporary art.

She will introduce her intricately crafted artwork and projects she’s done overseas, give a presentation on Mizuhiki culture, history, and motifs, and end with a demonstration. Guests will learn how to make the Awaji knot and take home a beautiful origami pouch decorated with their own handmade Awaji knot as a special keepsake!

After the workshop, guests are invited to enjoy Japanese bites and refreshments while chatting with the artist!

Please join us for two days of celebration and culture at Japan Fest 26 in Skokie Sports Park! On July 11th & July 12th, Japan Fest blends old and new traditions and celebrates both Japanese culture, and the Japanese community.

Japan Fest 26 will showcase the richness of Japanese culture through traditional and contemporary performances, cultural exhibits, culinary experiences, and a multitude of interactive activities. The exposure to Japanese culture, cuisine and art will create deeper awareness, appreciation and understanding of Japan and further strengthen U.S.-Japan friendship, bonds, and business at the local level.
