“Ode to the City” is a grassroots project that targets communities with stories to tell and art to create by providing neighborhood members with the resources and platform to tell those stories. We are funded by two generous grants, from the Davis Projects for Peace and the Dalai Lama Fellows. Our aim is to empower multigenerational artists from South Side neighborhoods to tap into the power of co
lor to challenge dominant narratives, and to empower their communities themselves through a variety of artistic medium. We will be leading a team of talented and diverse teaching artists into the near south side to teach a series of free, public workshops, which will culminate in a free, public exhibition. We have excitingly partnered with a number of local organizations, including The Rebuild Foundation, Young Chicago, The Poetry Foundation, and the DuSable Museum. Interested in getting involved?
