Think you can’t be happy unless you’re in a relationship 🤨?

Let us be the first to bust that myth—the purpose of a relationship is NOT to make you happy.

The purpose of a relationship IS to support your journey to become your best self. Because when you’re in a relationship with others, you’re invited to be more authentic and engaged. It’s what the relationship brings out in you that creates joy 😁.

That’s why your relationship with YOU is your most important one!

What would happen if you swiped right on YOU 🥰?

“This above all—to thine own self be true.”

—William Shakespeare

What do you want MOST right now?

Not sure ?

Perhaps you know BUT worry about what other people might think.

Most of us have been conditioned from childhood to IGNORE our deepest desires, 😞 especially if they might make someone else uncomfortable.

But there is power in saying what we genuinely want WITHOUT conforming to others’ expectations.

Even if our desires cause some discomfort for others initially, our increasing comfort with ourselves means we’ll be MORE AUTHENTIC participants in every area of our lives.

And being our most authentic selves is how we create a world that works for everyone. 💛

This week, set the intention to focus less on pleasing others and MORE on pleasing yourself.

NOTE: This doesn’t mean to be more careless in your behavior toward others—simply to TAKE MORE CARE in your behavior toward yourself.

All work and no play?

Stop what you’re doing right now and take a dance break! 💃

More and more, research shows us that play is CRITICAL to developing our social and emotional intelligence.

So why are we told that we need to be more serious if we want to grow up to be successful? 😝

Let go of that message right now.

As we learn to be more expressive and playful, every part of our lives expands. Think about the word “recreation.” It means to be growth-focused—to RE-create oneself.

It’s in the definition: if we want to learn and develop, we need to have more fun. We 🚣 need 🚴‍♀️ to 🏂 play!

Are you tired of waiting for the weekend to enjoy your life? 😒

Does your next vacation seem way too far away?

Drop what you’re doing right now and schedule a playdate for yourself! 🤸‍♀️

Maybe it’s something short and simple, like taking a walk with a good friend.
OR maybe it’s more planned out and something to look forward to—like a bestie sleepover night with movies and popcorn 🍿.

Go with your feelings and say “yes” to ANY AND ALL SILLINESS that may arise.

Research shows that play keeps us cognitively sharp and alert.
✨ It wakes us up and helps us enjoy our lives more fully.✨

So, whatever you do, stay connected to the energy of PLAY—that’s where the magic is.

How did YOU play today? 👉 Tell us in the comments below.

Have you ever typed into your search engine:

“Can I change _________ 🤔?”

You weren’t alone. According to Google, that was the MOST searched term in 2022.

How can I change my weight❓My income❓ My job❓ My relationship❓ My mood❓ My body ❓ My future❓

What if we asked ourselves this instead: “✨How can I BECOME? ✨”

How can I become my true, whole, wildly authentic, and loving self in 2023?

If you like the way that feels, check out this link for more about doing precisely that: https://wrightfoundation.org/finding-your-authentic-self/

“Ask, and you shall receive.”

BUT if you don’t ask, you can’t receive, right?

Try an experiment this week. Ask for what you want from just ONE person in your life. Start small.

😊Hey, could you help me with the dishes?

😊Would you put the kids to bed so I can finish some work?

😊Can you grab the dry cleaning on your way home?

Then s l o w l y build your asking muscle over time 💪.

Remember to keep track of what you ask for AND what you receive.

You might just find the world has been waiting to give you everything you want!

“AAARRRGGGHHH!”

Have you ever kept a lid on frustrations swirling through your mind when you disagreed with something someone was saying or doing?

What might have happened if you had spoken up instead?

😦Do you think you would have gotten fired?

😦Yelled at?

😦Been left behind?

Most of us have a lot of fear around what might happen if we speak our truth.

BUT the truth is, when we express our dissatisfaction responsibly and constructively, we invite clarity and conversation without being dismissive. 🙂

The next time you find yourself holding back, try saying out loud, sincerely but mindfully, “I disagree.”

Then enjoy the connection AND the truth.

Doesn’t that feel better?

Don’t hold back! 👇Tell us how you felt in the comments below.

Want MORE nourishment and LESS depletion?

Here’s a live-your-best-life-habit: the Math of MORE. 😁

How does it work?

👉Gradually add things that truly satisfy you.

👉Then, as those fill your life, watch the things that don’t satisfy you get subtracted.

Here's an example:

🍫 🍰 🍨Do sweet treats tempt you at night?

ADD more REAL sweetness - snuggle with your pet, dive into a book you’ve been wanting to read, check in with your best friend.

Explore what feels sweet to you, then add in BIG servings of it at vulnerable times. You may find that a gallon of ice cream isn't quite as crucial. 😉

More nourishment = less depletion.

We all long to have thriving adult relationships with our families, but old patterns and behaviors can keep us STUCK in the same roles we had as children.

👎 No. Fun.

At the Wright Foundation, we refer to these as generational relationship patterns. We’re expected to act, behave, express, and respond to each other according to our roles.

That is SO limiting! 🛑

Want to break free?

Try this: Pick ONE family member and spend time looking at the roles you play with each other. You can even set it up as an interview and make it an engaging family activity as you get to know each other better.

By exploring old roles in new ways, we can begin to have adult relationships with our families that feel more authentic and connected. And way more fun!
