During World Infertility Awareness Month, Lisa Fasone’s story offers hope to patients facing unexpected challenges.

After experiencing symptoms that didn’t feel right, Lisa learned she had a pituitary tumor affecting her hormones and making it difficult to conceive. With care from Vijay Eranki, MD, endocrinologist, and neurosurgeon Stephen Magill, MD, PhD, she underwent surgery to remove the tumor.

Not long after, her body began to return to normal. Today, Lisa is celebrating the birth of her second daughter.

“Dr. Magill really gave me my life back,” she shared.

One year ago, 16-year-old Finn Chapin was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive brain tumor.

Today, he is cancer-free.

Finn’s journey included chemotherapy, surgery and months of rehabilitation with the support of a dedicated care team, including Vinai Gondi, MD, radiation oncologist at Northwestern Medicine. Along the way, Finn’s love of volleyball even became part of his recovery, helping him regain strength, coordination and confidence.

More than 400 philanthropists, physicians, patients, and caregivers attended the 18th Annual Minds Matter Benefit, raising more than 1.5 million dollars to support brain tumor research and patient care.

This year, Robin Loewenberg Tebbe was honored with the Minds Matter Award, recognizing her longtime support of Malnati Brain Tumor Institute and the Malnati Brain Tumor Institute Advisory Council, as well as her commitment to philanthropy and raising awareness for brain tumor research.

The program featured remarks from co-directors James P. Chandler, MD, and Roger Stupp, MD, along with an inspiring patient story that highlighted the life-changing impact of care provided at Malnati Brain Tumor Institute.

Thanks to the generous support of the community, Malnati Brain Tumor Institute raised a groundbreaking amount of funds. This event would not be possible without the Minds Matter Host and Event Committees, Malnati Brain Tumor Institute Advisory Council, development teams, and sponsors.
