Lauren, proud mama to her miracle baby Nico, was able to enjoy almost 2 years in remission after being diagnosed with breast cancer while she was pregnant in 2015. She received her diagnosis a few short hours after having her first prenatal ultrasound and underwent chemotherapy throughout her entire pregnancy. A

fter spending a love-filled first year with her son, she was given the devastating news that her cancer was back and had spread. She was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer, for which there is no cure. She began aggressive treatment and fought. Lauren passed away about 6 months later. She is survived by her husband Ian and her sweet baby Nico. Lauren spent her life sharing the joy of music with others by performing for children and giving back to the community. She has been an inspiration to everyone she encountered. This foundation was her project. She was trying to get it up and running right up until she couldn’t. She was always finding ways to help others. She was the most selfless person I have ever met. Our mission is to provide supply packs to pregnant women in treatment for cancer. We aim to provide a little comfort in one of the most uncomfortable circumstances. Thank you for your support in making Lauren’s vision a reality

Please be prepared to race tomorrow! Dress appropriately for possible snow, ice, slush or other winter conditions. And have fun! It will be a memorable Human Race!

What is the Human Race? It’s a 5k Race that is better than any of the others! Why is that? Well, most 5K events support ONE cause or organization. There’s nothing wrong with that, but you know what’s even better? ONE 5K that supports almost SEVENTY causes! When you register for the Human Race, you choose which local organization to support. Plus, you get to dress like a super hero for the race, and who doesn’t love being a super hero for a day?!

Avoiding to***co and excessive alcohol use can greatly decrease your risk of cancer. But no one, no matter their lifestyle and life choices, chooses cancer. And, you can do everything “right” and still end up with cancer. Because cancer sucks like that.
