The Hellenic Bar Association Foundation, the charitable arm of the Hellenic Bar Association of Illinois, is celebrating its 76th Annual Scholarship Ball on Saturday, November 21, 2026, at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare. The theme of this year’s Gala is Celebrating the Hellenic Contribution to the United States: To Its Past and to the Future.

Please join us in honoring those in our community who have given so much for others and who make us so proud to be Hellenic Americans! We also ask you to support the Foundation’s mission by purchasing a sponsorship or making a donation.

Sponsors will be recognized for their contributions on our website and during the event. The deadline for sponsorship listings is on November 9, 2026.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, both in person and virtually, for our Greek citizenship and banking presentation! A huge thank you to Greek-American attorney and HBA Director Christos Kiosses, as well as Eurobank representatives Andreas Thomopoulos and Elina Nikaki, for sharing their knowledge and insights. The event was moderated by HBA President Hon. Frank Andreou and HBA 1st VP Dimitra Anderson, who made it possible for nearly 200 attendees to participate in person and via Zoom from all over the country.

DEAN MARAGOS TO RECEIVE THE ST. DIONYSIOS AREOPAGITES DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD
JOIN US ON SUNDAY, OCTOBER 11, 2026
On Sunday, October 11, 2026, the HBA will host the 6th Annual Celebration of the feast day of St. Dionysios Areopagites, patron saint of judges and lawyers. The HBA will present the St. Dionysios Areopagites Distinguished Service Award to Dean Maragos.

This award honors those who have provided extraordinary legal service to the Hellenic Orthodox community and expanded access to justice to the underserved.

Please join us at 9:30 A.M. for Divine Liturgy, and for the presentation of the award immediately following, at Sts. Peter & Paul Greek Orthodox Church, 1401 Wagner Rd, Glenview, IL 60025.

The HBA is also sponsoring the coffee hour reception. We look forward to celebrating with you!

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS FOR LAW STUDENTS OF HELLENIC DESCENT ARE NOW OPEN!

The Hellenic Bar Association Foundation, the charitable arm of the Hellenic Bar Association of Illinois, is pleased to announce that its annual scholarship application is now open to second and third year law students.

To apply for the scholarship, each student must submit an application online with a current resume, photo, and law school transcript attached no later than Friday, October 16, 2026.

Certain scholarship applicants will be invited to attend a short, in-person interview with the selection committee on the afternoon of Friday, October 23, 2026, at the Chicago offices of Winston Taylor LLP (300 North LaSalle Drive, Suite 4400 | Chicago, IL 60654). All scholarship applicants should therefore ensure that they can be available to attend such in-person interview session prior to submitting their application.

Scholarship recipients will be honored at the Hellenic Bar Association Foundation’s 76th Annual Scholarship Ball to be held on Saturday, November 21, 2026, at The Hyatt Regency O’Hare.
