Southeast Side of Chicago Food Pantry A weekly pantry fighting food insecurity on the Southeast Side of Chicago.

Good Morning, Good Afternoon, Good Evening, or whenever you read this post.
The Southeast Side of Chicago Food Pantry will be open Today, Wednesday, October 14 , 2026 from the hours of 1pm to 3pm . Please make sure that you come with sturdy bags and /or a cart of some type. So it will be easier for you to carry your items.

Since we have been in full operation in January 2020, I personally DO NOT approve of ANY person / people trying to “save” a spot for another person/ others. If I am made aware that there are people doing this after this was stopped….. they will be given just 2 options……1) It has to STOP IMMEDIATELY or 2) I will use my right and NOT service the people that are abusing this pantry.

Those actions are not acceptable and are not fair for those who are abiding by the rules of this pantry.

Due to the fluctuating temperatures that are in the forecast for the Chicago area, The Food Pantry is suggesting that any clients , PLEASE do not arrive / line up any earlier than 12:30pm, for the hard card number pass out. We are hoping that many of the clients will listen!
PLEASE, DO NOT USE/ SPRAY any type of mosquito foggers in the area! The neighbors are asking us IF we are allowing this action!
The answer is NO!
If you arrive at the designated time, the fogger usage would not be necessary!!

Please dress for the weather! Remember, this is CHICAGO, NOT the West Coast….. and it’s not much warmer in California , but raining in Florida !

We are thinking about the clients as well as the volunteers safety during these extremely high / low temperatures. And we do know that a few clients will still ignore what we are trying to do for their well being.

We shall see everyone by 12:30pm!

Desde que comenzamos a operar con normalidad en Enero de 2020, personalmente, NO APRUEBO que ninguna persona intente “reservar” un lugar para otra personas. Si me entero de que hay personas haciendo esto después de que haya prohibido…..solo tendrán dos opciones: 1) Deben dejar de hacerlo INMEDIATAMENTE o 2) Haré uso de mi derecho y no atenderé a quienes abusen esta despensa.
Estos acciones no son aceptables ni justas para quienes cumplen con las normas de este despensa.

No llegues antes de las 12:30pm para ponerse en línea . Por favor, vístanse de acuerdo al clima!

Good Morning, Good Evening, or Good Afternoon or whenever that you read this post.

I am always posting about the client line up on the street that is on Greenbay north of the food pantry. That client line up is WAY TOO EARLY when we do not open our doors until 1pm , on any given Wednesday! Especially during this and future weather extremes of heat , thunderstorms and / or cold (snow storms)….. there is no actual type of shelter for the clients and to include the building

And someone is taking it upon themselves to use a mosquito fogger while other clients are standing there as the fogger is being used, which is jeopardizing the other clients and the neighbors who just might have breathing or allergy issues and they keep using the chemicals. Just to make this perfectly clear,
the Food Pantry is NOT authorizing this person to use this fogger. And we have spoken to the person and he refuses to cooperate and stop using the fogger for the sake of the other clients & the neighbors.

We are trying to make sure that the clients area as safe as they can possibly be.

The Southeast Side of Chicago Food Pantry will be open Today, Wednesday, August 26 , 2026, from the hours of 1pm to 3pm .

Due to the fluctuating temperatures plus rain with possible Thunderstorms that are in today’s weather forecast for the Chicago area, The Food Pantry is suggesting that any clients , PLEASE do not arrive / line up any earlier than 12:30pm, for the hard card number pass out.

People are still ignoring the pantry’s request on NOT coming early…… pretty soon , you will not be allowed to line up & think that you can fumigate the area with a spray that can be toxic to others, especially those who live & are inside the homes, even if you think that you are helping, you just might be making it worse
