Little Mister Has a New Home!
For 9 years, Little Mister was coddled and cuddled by a lovely owner who adopted him as a kitten and appreciated his very affectionate, yet slow-to-warm temperament. When his owner passed, the Unity Hospice Foundation’s Pet Peace of Mind Program and its partners at Animal Care League (ACL) were able to quickly get him into care and ready for foster or adoption. He was well taken care of at ACL, but very fearful - hiding in his cat tree for much of the day. Because his comfort and eating were affected, the vet team decided they should get him into a foster placement rather than waiting for adoption.
That same day, a woman came in with her granddaughter, who was very passionate about animals and excited about her grandmother adopting a cat. Her granddaughter immediately got attached to Little Mister and his story and was able to get him to open up a bit. The grandmother, who had always called her son “little mister” when he was young, felt the pull of fate, and despite her reservations, decided to try fostering him.
After 3 days in her home, Little Mister began showing his true colors as a cuddle bug. The foster-to-adopter had to adjust to her new adoring companion, and she reports that now he follows her everywhere, winding through her legs and making biscuits on her lap. The experience inspired her to become an ACL volunteer as well!
Thanks to our partnership with the ACL, Unity Hospice Foundation’s Pet Peace of Mind program had another success!
