MSA National: Serving Islam and Muslims Since 1963

Established in January 1963, the Muslim Students Association of the U.S. & Canada (MSA National) continues to serve Muslim students during their college and university careers by facilitating their efforts to establish, maintain and develop local MSA chapters. First established on the campus of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign by a

conference of Muslim students from around the U.S. and Canada, MSA National has been a uniting forum for Muslim students from diverse backgrounds for over four decades. It continues its mission of meeting the needs of our Muslim youth on campus with the zeal and energy of the Muslim students, but requires the support of the larger community. Annual Program and Resources

MSA National is a non-profit organization that strives to facilitate networking, educating, and empowering the students of today to be citizens of tomorrow’s community. To achieve our objectives, MSA National organizes dozens of events and programs annually. In addition, MSA National develops tools and resources to facilitate information sharing and unite students across North America.

This month - we’re highlighting Travis Highschool’s MSA in Richmond, Texas.📍

This event was held during the school year as a way to bring students together and celebrate the diversity within the Muslim community. Members represented different Muslim countries by sharing fun facts, traditions, cultural clothing, and popular foods from their cultures. Students had the opportunity to learn about different backgrounds while trying a variety of dishes from around the world. The purpose of the event was to promote unity, cultural appreciation, and community within our school while showing the beauty and diversity of Islam.

We strongly condemn the deadly acts of violence at the Islamic Center of San Diego. May Allah ﷻ protect our sisters and brothers, grant healing to those affected, and bring peace and safety to our communities.

Please keep the San Diego Muslim community in your duas.

For decades, MSAs have played a powerful role in shaping the next generation of Muslim leaders, thinkers, founders, and changemakers across North America. And that spirit continues through our partnership with UMMAHCON, Canada’s largest Muslim tech and business conference, happening on Saturday, May 30th in Toronto!

This month - we’re highlighting West Chester University’s MSA in West Chester, Pennsylvania.📍

The WCU MSA Annual Ramadan Iftar Banquet was the signature Ramadan program and one of the largest events hosted by the organization every year. The evening brings together students, faculty, community members, and neighboring MSAs for a formal iftar gathering on campus! They are honored to build connections between students across the greater Philadelphia area and elevate the presence of Muslim student life at West Chester University.

“We want to connect with Muslims and Non-Muslims on campus, and create a meaningful and welcoming space for Muslim students to break their fast together during Ramadan. This is a chance for people to share our religion with their Non-Muslim friends, professors, and the community.

We aim to raise awareness about Ramadan and its spiritual significance across campus, and strengthen unity and collaboration: this event also serves as our annual Inter-MSA Iftar, where we invite neighboring MSAs including Temple University MSA, Drexel University MSA, and Penn MSA during an Inter-MSA Week of Iftars across Philly Campuses!

Each year, the banquet serves as one of the largest events for WCU MSA — uniting campuses, celebrating Ramadan with the community, and fostering a strong sense of unity on our campus and beyond.”

It was truly inspiring to witness MSAs from across Texas and beyond come together in a spirit of competition and unity. Events like these reflect the strength and connection within our student communities.
