🔄 German Phrase of the Week: Den Spieß umdrehen

Some situations call for a shift in perspective — or even a complete change of roles. The German phrase „den Spieß umdrehen“ literally means to turn the skewer around, but figuratively it’s used when someone actively turns a situation to their advantage — much like saying “the tables have turned,” with an intentional twist.

It’s often used in conversations about leadership, negotiations, or moments when initiative makes all the difference. Have you ever had the chance den Spieß umzudrehen?

✈️ German word of the week: Das Fernweh ✨

Some words capture feelings you didn’t even realize had a name. Fernweh describes that deep longing to be somewhere else — to explore, to travel, to see what’s beyond the familiar. Often called the opposite of homesickness, it’s the quiet (or not so quiet) urge for new places and perspectives.

Where is your Fernweh taking you right now?

Whether it’s new initiatives, strategic partnerships, or upcoming opportunities, now is the perfect moment to die Weichen für ein erfolgreiches Jahr zu stellen.

As winter slowly loosens its grip, there’s a special moment when the world begins to thaw — quite literally. Tauwetter describes that in‑between time when snow melts, sidewalks clear, and the first hints of spring start to show through.

It’s the gentle reminder that longer days, brighter mornings, and a new season of energy are just around the corner.

Have you noticed the first signs of Tauwetter where you are?
