CYCC began in 2010 as a coalition of students from schools across the city dedicated to closing the Fisk and Crawford coal-fired power plants in the Little Village and Pilsen neighborhoods of Chicago. Working closely with the Chicago Clean Power Coalition, CYCC mobilized students around climate & local environmental justice issues. Some of the same students are working to build power of all kinds
across Chicago today, and with our many eyes shared, our view has widened along with our spaces, homes, and experiences. CYCC is transitional and in transition. We are working beyond and outside [but with acknowledgement and respect to] our roots, a microcosm of the same need for society. In huge ways we are realizing that we have to move forward collectively and taking the necessary steps to do so. Through solidarity and intentional mutually beneficial involvement, we are working to build a just and sustainable world, starting in Chicago. CYCC is not actively holding community meetings, but we want to be! You are more than welcome to get involved in organizing those gatherings, but we also encourage you to get involved with our partner & peer organizations, many campaign or campus based, including but not limited to:
