"Like" this page and turn on your notifications to get event dates and info. Critical Lass is a social bike ride exclusively for women/trans cyclists of all ages and skill sets started in 2011 to promote camaraderie, increase visibility, and to encourage novice and seasoned riders to get out on their bikes in Chicago. We ride on school nights, once a month or so, on dates determined by each ride's

leader. Routes, start times, and meeting locations change, but we'll always end somewhere for drinks and conversation (and depending on the post-ride venue, children may or may not be welcome). We'll post location changes, depart alerts and arrivals on the event page on Facebook for riders who would like to meet late. We ride at a leisurely pace on 3-to-5-mile routes that include residential streets, bike trails, and streets with bike lanes when possible.

Hi lasses, I made a mistake. The bike lights I have are NiteRider (not NiteLite.) the charge lasts long. Multiple functions for front and rear lights. They're really bright! I think the lights I have are NiteRider Swift 300 lumens.

Good looking! Happy first ride in a long time! ❤️ A few more versions of this picture in the comments...

Thank you Gretchen Helmreich for finding out about the pop-up cancellation. We will still proceed to Sketchbook. You are allowed to bring your own food in. So pack a dinner or there is a Middle Eastern and Vietnamese place within a few blocks that folks could order/walk to if they so choose as well as order from anywhere their hearts desire. I don’t know Skokie that well so I only just Googled the two places mentioned above just now.

What a beautiful day it is today! A fellow cyclist posed a great question about the meeting spot. Let’s make it 4830 N Francisco which is near the actual bike path entrance. One block west of the gas station at California/Lawrence and just east of the river. My cell is 325-262-5558 if you have questions, etc. -Ashton

Happy Monday! Two more days until our ride. The weather looks good this Wednesday July 17, 2024 and we are set to meet at 6, roll at 6:15pm. I’ll post my cell here on Wednesday. Please reply if you’re definitely coming so we have an idea of a headcount and know how many folks to wait for.

Thanks for the great response, Friends! Let’s set a meeting time of 6p at Lawrence/California and a roll out at 6:15pm. Feel free to meet us there in Skokie and ride back with us or whatever suits your schedule.

Please feel free to share with your fellow women and trans friends who may not be on FB.

We will post contact info closer to the date but feel free to comment here/direct message with questions, etc.

Howdy! I would like to put together a ride up to Sketchbook Brewery in Skokie. The ride would take place on Wednesday July 17. I don't have a time set but likely late afternoon. It's an approximately 8 mile ride one-way starting near the Northwest Bike path at Lawrence/California and along the Skokie Northshore Channel Trail with a detour to Emily Oak Nature Center and then to Sketchbook Brewery.

Sketchbook Brewery has a large indoor and outdoor gathering space and will have a food truck - Schmaltz & Vinegar. I tried to look up their menu and believe they may have vegetarian options. I encourage folks to reach out themselves to clarify. I would likely take the same trail back to Chicago but am open to finding an alternative route.

Will update accordingly if we have interested folks.

Howdy! I am putting together a ride this Saturday, August 8th. I am still working on the details and will update ASAP. It will most likely begin and end on the northside. Save the date!

Why is it harder to open the LFP than it is a crowded sidewalk cafe?

Unfortunately, the mayor is closing the LFT each day in the early evening, which will make it somewhat less useful for commuting.

This is kind of weird to post, but my favorite bike shorts ever were made by a small SF-based, woman-owned company called Sheila Moon. They went out of business years ago and I have an Ebay alert set for anything by her. These new ones just pinged me but they are not my size. Maybe someone here is interested? Great under skirts!
