Adult Sailing has been sold out. But 3 seats opened up due to cancellations: 2 four week sessions in June; and one 4 week session in July in Rhodes 19.

We like sustainability and affordability. In past years, some new sailors have found great deals on used foulies and PFDs at this event. You never know what people might donate.

We can even upcycle your old sails!

Over the last few years, we’ve worked with Jibe Sail Craft to upcycle seventeen sails into bags.

We always see a ton of gear change hands and have found new homes for items like VHF radios, Magma grills, life jackets, fenders, and winches. If you have sails or gear you'd like to part with, bring them to the event—and who knows, you might just find something great for your boat!

Third week of crew school; knot of the week is a bowline! 🪢⚓️

The bowline makes a secure, fixed loop at the end of a line that wont slip or jam, no matter how much tension the wind puts on your sails. And it’s easy to untie after (even if it gets wet)! 🌊⛵️

On a sailboat, it’s commonly used to attach a line to a sail, or tie off to a mooring or dock. Think of it as a reliable “fixed loop” knot you’ll use again and again.

Second lesson of crew school — our knot of the week is the Cleat Hitch! ⛵️

This is used to securely tie your boat to the dock by wrapping a line around a bolted-on cleat.

The key to making sure it stays put —- on the last wrap, you tuck the rope underneath itself. Be sure there are two parallel lines wrapping over cleat, held in place underneath a line crossing over them the opposite way.

First day of crew school — our knot of the week is the Figure 8 Stopper Knot! ⛵️💪

This is one of the many kinds of “stopper” knots that you can use to stop the tail end of a line from slipping through a block or clutch.

Compared to just a loose end, having a stopper prevents the line from inadvertently becoming de-rigged while they are flying around and being adjusted in the middle of a sail!
