Continuing our learning journey on investing for impact, we teamed up with Social Finance and released a report that synthesizes feedback from 30 investment leaders from across the country. The clear takeaway is that the barriers to investing endowments for impact are surmountable and more and more organizations are pursuing investments that align with their mission and financial goals!

Builders Initiative and Social Finance have partnered on a report for foundations, high-net worth family offices, and their board members, identifying barriers and opportunities associated with MRIs.

Builders Vision’s goal is to move at least 75% of the Builders Initiative Foundation assets into impact investments by 2022. It also aims to seek out a diverse range of both asset managers and entrepreneurs through those investments. “If we’re not investing the endowment for impact, we’re missing a large portion of our capital to create the change we want to see in the world,” said Noelle Laing, managing director of impact investing at Builders Asset Management.

After years of off-the-radar funding, a Walton heir worth roughly $17 billion launched a series of websites for his joint business and philanthropic vehicle, Builders Vision. It’s doing some exciting things—but details remain hazy.
