Be Fido's Friend

Be Fido's Friend Be Fido's Friend is a 501c3, 100% volunteer run organization dedicated to dog rescue.

In addition to our primary goal of helping homeless dogs find forever homes, we:

1. Rescue animals from situations that are abusive, endangering and neglectful and inform the public in order to put a stop to animal abuse and irresponsible breeding.

2. Promote holistic and alternative therapies to allow our animals to live long, peaceful and happy lives.

3. Educate the public on responsible pet

ownership which includes the importance of spay/neutering.

4. Support, encourage and join forces with other animal welfare organizations.

Happy Fourth of July everyone. Hope you are safely celebrating just like our newest adoptable Coco. She is not quite ready for adoption as she is undergoing medical screening, but this cute ten year old will be up for adopting in the next coming weeks. She loves humans and is good with other dogs but really all humans big and small are her jam.

Toby had a follow up at the internist today. We got some med adjustments, we are moving to monthly B12 shots and adding a little bit of pain management for his old man joints.

Overall the doctor is happy with Toby’s progress but he needs to put on more weight (he only gained 2 ounces). We are trying a novel protein diet with a single protein from Just Food For Dogs and if he’s still trending up in weight, he may be ready for a neuter in a month!

Toby update:

We got results from Toby’s comprehensive GI test and good news: there is nothing of significance. His body is sick from years of neglect and he has a b12 deficiency. He will be getting weekly b12 shots for the rest of his life. His appetite is still spotty but he has a really great attitude and is in a really good mood. Hopefully everything will continue to get better once he is done with the steroids and he won’t need further testing (or a biopsy).

As always, thank you for supporting our sweet little guy! We will keep everyone posted on his progress. 🩵

Meet Nugget aka Spicy Nugs! This little guys is a little under 9lbs, about 1.5-2 years old and full of mischief and s***k. He just got neutered so we hope we can make him adoptable soon. He will need to go to a home with no young children as he is still learning proper manners and working on his potty training. He is a smart little guy who already knows how to play fetch. Nugget loves snuggles with people he is familiar with and is great on walks.

More information to come as we learn more about him.
