PEAK has provided scholarships and mentoring services to over 250 underserved youth in the Chicago community since our mission began in 1998. PEAK is the only high school scholarship program in Chicago that pays 100% tuition and focuses on academically average to below average students.

Originally from Rochester, New York, Andrew has called Chicago home for the past 10 years. He currently serves as a Relationship Banker at CIBC, working with privately held and private equity-owned businesses.

A graduate of Kent State University, Andrew enjoys traveling, live music, and cheering on his hometown Buffalo Bills and Sabres.

Andrew shares PEAK’s commitment to creating opportunities for underserved youth and supporting students in the academic middle. We’re excited for the experience, perspective, and passion he’ll bring to our scholars, mentors, and the next generation of young people PEAK has yet to reach.

That’s one of the many ways mentorship can make a difference. PEAK mentors show up for their scholars, offering a listening ear, encouragement and guidance throughout all four years of high school.

Mentorship takes commitment.

It takes a mentor who shows up, a scholar who knows someone is in their corner, and a community that believes in the power of that relationship.

That’s where donor-advised funds can make an impact. A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a charitable giving account that allows donors to set aside money for charitable giving and recommend grants to the nonprofits and causes they care about. DAF Day, on October 8, is an opportunity to learn more about this giving tool and the impact DAFs can have on communities.

What is DAF Day?🧡

On October 8, people across the country are coming together to make an impact through donor-advised funds (DAFs).

A donor-advised fund is a charitable giving account that allows donors to set aside funds for charitable giving and recommend grants to the nonprofits they want to support. DAF Day is a chance to learn more about this flexible way to give and consider how your DAF can support the organizations and communities you care about.

PEAK is proud to be part of DAF Day this year.

One of the best parts of Match Night is hearing what scholars and mentors are already looking forward to.

For one scholar and mentor, the hope was pretty simple:

“We want to try new things together and become very close.”

That says a lot.

Mentorship at PEAK isn’t about checking a box or simply having another person to call. It’s about spending time together, trying things you might not have tried on your own, having real conversations, and giving a relationship room to grow.

And with a full school year ahead of them, there’s plenty of time to do just that.

New places. New experiences. Plenty of laughs. Maybe a few awkward moments, too.

Whatever this year holds, we’re excited that they get to experience it together.

A new mentorship relationship can start with something as simple as a question.

At Scholar & Mentor Match Night, PEAK scholars and mentors were paired for the school year ahead, beginning a relationship built on conversations, encouragement, and shared experiences.

One prompt asked:

“Write a message to your future self.”

The answer?

“Open up and try new things.”

A simple message for the future, and a fitting reminder of what mentorship can make possible: new experiences, new confidence, and new doors worth walking through.
