BCAI - The Bhutanese Community Association of IL Welcome to the Bhutanese Community Association of Illinois (BCAI). Bhutan is a small Himalayan country situated between India and China.

Our mission is to promote, integrate, and strengthen the economic, cultural, and professional values of the Bhutanese refugees in Illinois. Each community in Bhutan has its own rich culture and traditions. The community of Nepali-origin Bhutanese was forced to flee the country in the 1990s to protect themselves from the government and spent 20 years in Nepali refugee camps. In 2008, the UNHCR appr

oved resettlement in the US. There are over 1,500 Bhutanese refugees in Illinois, the majority of which reside in Chicago.
