State Representative Yolonda Morris Property Tax Exemptions Workshop hosted in partnership with the Cook County Assessor’s Office. This workshop is designed to help homeowners better understand available property tax savings and how to apply for exemptions.

During this session, attendees will:
• Learn the basics of the property tax system
• Review eligibility requirements and documents needed for exemptions
• Receive an overview of the Certificate of Error application process
• Participate in a live Q&A with knowledgeable staff

Join us for “Visible Paths: Beyond High School,” a free resource fair designed to help students discover what’s possible after graduation. We’re bringing together a diverse mix of colleges, universities, trade programs, and career training opportunities, with a goal of offering at least 10 different resources for students to learn from and connect with.
High school counselors, youth‑serving organizations, and families are encouraged to bring students out for a day of information, exploration, and support as they plan for life beyond high school.

With continued generosity and compassion, our community has made a lasting impact in the lives of the families we serve. As we prepare for another meaningful season, we invite you to join the journey and take part in our 2025 Adopt-A-Family initiative!

About the Initiative:

The holiday season brings joy and connection, but for many families, it can also bring challenges. For nearly a decade, Invisible Book Bag has brought together community members, partners, and donors to help families in need. Together, we not only deliver gifts, but also provide vital resources that help families thrive year-round.

This year, our initiative will once again connect donors with families facing hardship, including those experiencing homelessness. Your support will help provide:

• Wish list gifts for children and parents
• Clothing, shoes, coats, and household essentials
• Food assistance and access to community resources
• Financial literacy and family support opportunities

How to Participate as a Donor:

Our goal this year is to adopt 100 families or more—surpassing last year’s success with your help!

• At present family sizes range from 3 to 7 members.
(61 Families have been adopted so far and we have 7 that are hoping to be adopted still)
• Each donor is asked to provide 2–3 items per family member, with a suggested minimum contribution of $75 per person (for example, $150 for a two-member family).

• To participate, let me know the family size that fits your budget, then reply to the POC: Stephanie Sharp, with the family size you’d like to shop for.

Once we confirm that the chosen family size is available, we will promptly respond with the family’s name and their gift list. This will allow donors to proceed confidently with their adoption and gift planning.
