Repost from .chicago

Tree density is an environmental justice issue, as minority communities on the South and West sides have fewer trees and are hit with higher temperatures and poorer air quality. Tell your alderman to "vote yes" on the Urban Forestry Advisory Board (UFAB) and help pass the UFAB Ordinance through City Council on Wednesday. The ordinance will establish a board of experts and policymakers to prevent tree loss and increase Chicago's tree canopy in every neighborhood. Visit the link in our bio to take action on climate change in Chicago! 🌳

Repost from

🌞everyone deserves access to a healthy environment. The Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act should serve as true protections for everyone and not just a select few. Race shouldn’t be a defining factor for how negatively or positively someone experiences the natural world around them. 🦋 ⁣

Art designed by for Intersectional Environmentalist 🌱 ⁣

We are hard at work and sorting through our volunteer forms. To be transparent, we are taking the steps to really legitimize our organization and get up and running. We’re amazed by the environmental community and their willingness to advocate for intersectional environmentalism. What started as an Instagram post has turned into a movement which feels so surreal. What’s in the works: expanding our council and contributor base, formalizing our certification criteria and partnership opportunities, creating eco-friendly and upcycled merch, adding more topic pages and more. ⁣

A note from : As a black environmentalist this community is my biggest dream come true. I am so thankful for you all. It feels like I’m honoring my ancestors by advocating for us to reclaim our space in the environmental movement and our inherent cultural traditions and relationships with nature. I’m in awe and stoked for what’s to come! ✊🏾 ⁣
