$77,000 for Maui Strong !!!

Moai and friends, you are the most fantastic community! Thanks to your overwhelmingly generous donations, we smashed our $30,000 match goal, and with the help of our wonderful friends at Trader Vic's (with an additional donation of $15k!) we have donated SEVENTY SEVEN THOUSAND dollars for fire relief.

2021 Good Works Update!

In a colorful swirl of aloha fabric and mai tais framed by the majestic Adirondack Mountains, the Moai once again found time to have fun with a purpose at Ohana 2021! It has been a long year for most of us, and so when we were *finally* able to get up to Lake George, NY in September, it was a welcome respite and exciting chance for many Moai to embrace old friends, and to make new friends as well. Sadly, the pandemic still had the borders closed, and so our Canadian ohana were dearly missed. Despite our lower than normal attendance, Ohana Luau at the Lake went ahead and was another great fundraising success. Our silent and live auctions at Ohana raised nearly $15,000 for the Easter Island Foundation! In conjunction with our other fundraising efforts throughout the year, and thanks to many generous donors, the Fraternal Order of Moai Foundation (a 501(c)(3) charitable organization) is delighted to announce a donation of $35,525 to the Easter Island Foundation (EIF) in 2021.

As always, our donation supports university scholarships for youth of Rapa Nui heritage. We are also proud to support the Toki School through this donation. The school provides music education in both classical and indigenous traditions, while also working to preserve the Rapa Nui language and the disciplines of the island’s cultural heritage. The Easter Island Foundation continues to work closely with local island leaders to seek out additional ways to support the Rapa Nui community.

A special shout out to the New England based Queequeg chapter of the Fraternal Order of Moai, who donated $475 - their entire Ohana 2021 room crawl tips - to the EIF, earmarked specifically for the Toki School. Mahalo, Queequegs!
