City Kids Camp

✨ Coming together for a purpose bigger than ourselves. ✨

Today, we’re at Greek Islands for our City Kids Camp Board Meeting, surrounded by an incredible group of board members who generously volunteer their time, energy, and hearts to make a difference. ❤️

We’re recapping an amazing Camp 2026, preparing for our upcoming Gala, and planning for an even bigger impact ahead.

But first — THANK YOU to our amazing donors and supporters. 🙏 Your generosity made this summer possible.

This year, 1,015 children from Chicago, Peoria and Fulton County stepped off the bus and onto 167 acres of open Illinois sky — a place where they could run, explore, laugh, make memories, and simply be kids. 🌳☀️💚

And we’re not done.

We need your help to keep the magic going. Every donation helps give another child the opportunity to experience a summer they may never forget.

💙 Give a child a summer to remember. Give today.

Another incredible week at City Kids Camp! 💙

Week 3 was our biggest and best yet! We welcomed 174 amazing campers, enjoyed beautiful weather, and most importantly, every child had a safe, fun, and unforgettable experience.

✨ This week’s highlights:
🥧 Campers got to pie their counselors with whipped cream (definitely a favorite!)
👮 Inspiring mentorship from John Catanzara and local law enforcement
🛠️ Hands-on career exploration with the Union Carpenters
🎉 Incredible community partners who brought energy, learning, and smiles to camp

As we head into Week 4, we’re excited to introduce even more activities like orienteering, capture the flag, and new experiences that help our kids build confidence, friendships, and lifelong memories.

City Kids Camp is 100% free for every camper because of generous supporters like you. Every dollar helps provide meals, activities, transportation, supplies, and life-changing opportunities for children who need them most.

This past weekend (May 1–3), over 100 amazing WGN Radio listeners made the trip to Lewistown, Illinois for our 3rd annual volunteer cleanup weekend at City Kids Camp—and what a turnout it was.

This place is so much more than a camp. It’s where Chicago kids get adventure, joy, hope, and truly life-changing experiences. Being part of getting it ready for them is something special !

10 years of welcoming kids to camp, strong and still going ❤️

This past weekend (May 1–3), over 100 amazing WGN Radio listeners made the trip to Lewistown, Illinois for our 3rd annual volunteer cleanup weekend at City Kids Camp—and what a turnout it was.

This place is so much more than a camp. It’s where Chicago kids get adventure, joy, hope, and truly life-changing experiences. Being part of getting it ready for them is something special.

So many highlights:

✨ Reconnecting with familiar faces and meeting incredible new volunteers
✨ The women who absolutely worked their butts off—cleaning, fixing, repainting, and adding beautiful touches to the chicken coop
✨ The generosity everywhere you looked

And a HUGE thank you to Hector’s wife Diane and his mom—feeding everyone is no small task… dinner Friday, THREE meals Saturday, and two on Sunday. The time, cost, and love behind that does not go unnoticed 💛

Special moment: John Williams stepping up to a free throw challenge to inspire donations—$1,000 on the line… and then volunteers jumped in too. Together, they raised an additional $9,000, sending 15 more kids to camp. Incredible.

Beautiful weather, full hearts, and proof that there are still so many good people in this world.

Already looking forward to next year 🙏
