Join us this Earth Day 😊 as we come together to make a real impact in our community!

⏰ 9AM–12PM CDT
📍 Trail just north of BMO Bank on 95th St (west side of 95th & Ashland Jewel parking lot)

We’re hosting a neighborhood cleanup to keep our shared spaces clean, safe, and beautiful. Supplies will be provided—just bring comfortable clothes, closed-toe shoes, and a reusable water bottle!

Before there were global sports superstars, there was Major Taylor. 🏆

In 1899, he became a World Champion — breaking barriers at a time when the world tried to block his path.

And today, in the heart of our community, his legacy lives on through the Major Taylor Trail. 🖤

A place to walk.
A place to breathe fresh air.
A place to ride.
A place to remember a true pioneer.

Grateful doesn’t even cover it 💙❄️ Our annual retreat brought together our board members, community partners, and friends who show up year after year for the Major Taylor Trail. From big conversations around improvements for our youth group, Learn to Ride, Trust for Public Land, Friends of the Major Taylor Trail, and the Major Taylor Cycling Club Chicago, to a special drop-in from our alderman—this was a truly productive day.

Even in the coldest time of the year, our amazing Major Taylor Trail Keepers showed up ready to work, plan, and dream bigger. We’re already building toward stronger 2026 events and more opportunities for our community.

Thank you to everyone who made the time, shared ideas, and continues to spread the word—the work doesn’t stop, and neither do we 🚴🏾‍♂️✨

As we close out the year, we want to take a moment to say thank you.
Thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, joined one of our events or rides, followed our page, and supported anything connected to Major Taylor. Your support—big or small—means more to us than words can express.

We are truly grateful for each and every one of you. We wish you a safe, warm, and joyful holiday season surrounded by peace and good health.

We look forward to seeing familiar faces again and welcoming new ones in the year ahead. We’re excited for what this new year has in store for our organization and our community.

Welcoming a new partner!
We bundled up for a winter tour of the Major Taylor Trail with Mila & Mr. Gaines from ❄️🚲

We rode and drove key sections of the trail, talked about coalition partners, and started dreaming together about how Sierra Club and Major Taylor Trail Keepers Chicago can collaborate to support our South Side communities with climate, health, and history at the center.

We’re excited to welcome Sierra Club as a formal partner with Major Taylor Trail Keepers Chicago and look forward to working together on the trail in 2025 and beyond. Stay tuned for more updates as this partnership takes shape!
