Remember (re)fortify 2019?

For our coloring book, Janeallison Ng produced illustrations from original photographs of the event by Francisco Lopez de Arenosa. The pages are filled with art therapy prompts by Shalom Parker to help the students work through the emotions and feelings they are having during the tumultious time. Katie Hart managed and edited the book to help bring it to fruition.

(re)fortify aims to introduce design to younger generations in underserved communities in the hope of developing strong voices that contribute to the built environment across all communities. Let's keep the flame alive, and encourage new generations to bring their design dreams to reality.

As many of you know, (re)group has been quietly busy—not only with the revamp of our organization, but also with the design of a brand new coloring book inspired by our 2019 event!

Since we weren’t able to run our annual (re)fortify event, our team put together a coloring book based on our 2019 forts, with integrated art therapy prompts and exercises. Our customized kits include greetings from our team, a workbook, colored pencils, a pencil sharpener, and a pre-stamped postcard for student engagement.

We would like to thank our team for this wonderful opportunity to keep our students from creatively engaged during the current pandemic.

(re)fortify is an initiative by (re)group in partnership with Breakthrough in East Garfield Park, Chicago. Prints were donated by Cushing, and materials and postage were donated by Solomon Cordwell Buenz
