It’s been a minute…. Checking in, Year 3 for CornerStore at the Respite Lounge at Lollapalooza! ✅🫶🏾💕🌱✨

We shared our mission (*going on 8 years as of this July!). 🧠🎨💪🏾

We gave away: candy, chips, juice, cooling wipes, ear plugs, hand sanitizer, first aid kits, tampons & pads, face masks, water bottles, stickers, flyers, fidgets, squishy’s, ponchos, and little more goods. ✨

Heat, Rain, Flood or Shine 🌊

We created a vibe and a safe space, space to reset and check in with self before getting back to the festival energy 🔌

People came back because they remembered us and space we offered 🌱

Shoutout Resilience for joining us and being amazing neighbors🤝

Thank you Lollapalooza for giving us space to grow, connect with community and enjoy the show 🫶🏾

Hey Community, we haven’t posted on here in a while, know the impact we’re having persists. We had a strong start to the school year and asked our students to check-in with us and let us know how we’re doing, here’s a few..

Thank you for continuing to show up for CornerStore and for giving us the space to make our students feel seen, heard, and valued. Your support directly shapes the experiences that mean the most to them.

It’s been a minute, y’all! This month we’ve been diving into emotional regulation, conflict resolution (online and IRL), and how to advocate for ourselves.

Today, we switched it up with a little “tea time” before talking through holistic ways to handle conflict. With summer around the corner, we brought in real-life scenarios and practiced how to de-escalate in the moment.

Big convo, big growth. Proud of the girls for showing up and keeping it real!

Today, we concluded our summer internship for this year. We had an incredible opportunity to mentor the next generation of leaders, entrepreneurs, and innovators through the one summer internship program.

During the program, we covered various aspects of business using CornerStore as a case study, highlighting our areas of success and opportunities for growth. We also discussed how the interns can advocate for themselves and prioritize their well-being in the workforce, and provided valuable insights on how to achieve their future career goals.

A big shoutout to our amazing summer interns! Your hard work, creativity, and dedication made a huge impact on us this season. Thank you for sharing your experiences, feedback, and insight every day. We can’t wait to see how you all take over the world - the future is yours! 🚀✨

As a black-owned, women-led organization, I am filled with gratitude and empowered by the unwavering support of the incredible women that I have had the opportunity to bring this work to fruition. Together, we have created safe spaces for youth to discuss their mental health, and CornerStore’s growth and impact are a testament to this collective strength. To every woman, whether a parent, educator, administrator, clinician, community organizer, or any other role, who has lent her love, investment, and support, I extend my sincere thanks. Thank you for inspiring me and being in community with us

I look forward to continuing our work together to create holistic healing wealth for our youth.

With Gratitude,
Michelle

Hey, Yall! 💡Did you know that February is also Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month? According to the CDC Youth Risks Behavior Survey, at least 1 in 12 teens will experience physical or sexual dating violence.

Our middle + high school groups have been diving deep into conversations about love and relationships because it’s never too early to equip ourselves with the tools to feel empowered in our connections. Sometimes it can be hard to open up about our experiences until we find that safe space to share.

We’ve been chatting about what healthy relationships look like—setting boundaries, communicating safely, enjoying each other’s company—and we’ve also tackled the tough stuff like recognizing abuse, stalking, and forms of aggression. It’s important to talk about both sides so we can build healthier connections. 🔗

The effects of experiencing harm in relationships can have lifetime effects. That’s why we’re committed to creating safe spaces for our youth to talk about love in all its forms. ❤️

This Friday, we’re diving even deeper into these topics. Parents, if you’re looking for tips, will have some to share. Teens, if you’re wondering how to navigate different relationship dynamics, pull up and join us + bring along a friend—let’s keep the conversation going!

This , we celebrate and honor the trailblazers who have paved the way for our advancement. Their immense contributions to the fight for justice and equality inspire us to build upon their legacy.

At CornerStore, we are dedicated to empowering youth through healing and self-actualization, creating mindful and sustainable change.

As we look to the future, we see hope and potential in the next generation of leaders. We are honored to be a part of their journey and committed to supporting them.

This week, we commemorated the tremendous impact of Martin Luther King Jr.’s lifelong dedication to social justice, liberation, and peace. His unwavering commitment to speaking out + fighting against racism, poverty, and war continues to inspire us all.

Recently, we had the opportunity to advocate for some of the youth in our community. With so much going on in our community right now, there is a call for us to stand for liberation and peace. There is more work to do with what we have in our power to ensure that those around us achieve their well-being.

Sometimes that might look like standing in solidarity for change, advocating on behalf of someone, or connecting folks to healing resources they may need.

We remain committed to doing the healing work.

Happy New Year Everyone ✨

We’re starting a community series this year to identify and learn healthy solutions to address challenges our youth may be facing as they navigate the quickly advancing digital age, post-pandemic, hyper-isolating, chaotic social-political climate…that’s just the start of the list.

Community, we are the solution to a lot the problems happening right now. Our goal this year is to create a supportive + inclusive community where everyone feels valued, seen and heard.

This Friday we create space for conversation, food and community. Thank you for giving us space to launch the series. More details in the link in bio under “WeHealUs”.
