Before the year ends. I’d like thank Jerome and team over at for the coverage of my first art show in Santa Fe, New Mexico, “Free Our Flowers”. During their coverage made this arrangement on the fly.

Never in a million years did I think I would be surrounded by so many amazing and talented Black men, let alone giving them flowers in gratitude and celebration.

That’s all I got. ♥️

Free Our Flowers: Part 1 of 8

Back in January I had my first gallery show in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I never posted the images online.I wanted to wait until the website, webstore, prints, etc were ready. But order, timing, rhythm, capitalism, is just an excuse to wait your turn when there’s no line. Tomorrow may never come.

Therefore, I present: Reclamation of Voice (2024). Santa Fe musician, producer, and rapper had a closed door conversation on getting voice out in a city that tries to silence hip hop. That loves our culture and words, but hates us.

This photo series melds the stories of 7 black men and boys. The false narratives that they fight and overcome every day and showcases their truths in flowers.

A week or two go a met I brother through this app . Conversation as brief, but he had never received flowers before. I said, “say less 😂”. Little did I know this brotha is a community activist, therapist, and mental health advocate and has a list of black men in his life and community that deserve flowers.

Not only that but we’re in talks to host the 5 year anniversary of Black Men Flower Project together come April. I’m thankful for this platform for the reach it’s given me to connect and find amazing men like this doing the work behind the curtains.

Also thankful to for supplying the stems! 😁

We got a few more surprises this month as we prepare for hibernation. As always, thus FlowersToo

Black Men Flower Project City of Santa Fe- Economic Development

09/09/2025

Our speaker for September is Robert Washington-Vaughns, a multidisciplinary artist and filmmaker from Jordan-era Chicago.

A 2024 recipient of the Santa Fe Art and Culture's Inequity in the Arts grant, his most recent exhibition, Free Our Flowers (2025), explored the narratives of seven Black men and boys using flowers as a catalyst and frame for their testimonies.

Growing up in the lush, shaded concrete streets and shores of Chicago, Robert was influenced by the inner lives of his family, friends, and classmates that only protruded in storytelling, spoken word, and poetry. His artistic vision centers on echoing hushed voices and fostering community healing through nature.

Join us for his exploration of this month's theme, BLOSSOM 🌼
