It Takes A Village Family of Schools ITAV operates 5 Early Childhood Education sites across Chicago, offering equity-centered, culturally responsive care for infants through Pre-K.

Families are at the heart of everything we do — it truly takes a village. Our independent school locations include ITAV River City and Village Leadership Academy in the South Loop, and ITAV Child Care Services & Early Learning Center on the West Side. The mission of It Takes A Village Family of Schools is to provide high-quality, culturally responsive education and life-empowering social services that inspire students and families to positively transform and advance their communities, nation, and world.

Some of the sweetest moments in the Village happen around the breakfast table. đź’š

A warm breakfast. A few little voices. A little laughter. And a chance to sit together and talk before the day gets going.

Our little ones at ITAV River City were enjoying turkey sausage, oatmeal, blueberries and milk, but what we loved most was simply the conversation.

There is something special about slowing down long enough to ask children what they think, listen to what they have to say and let them know that their stories matter.

These everyday moments may seem small, but they are part of what makes a school feel like home.

Good food. Good conversation. A place where our little ones are known and loved. đź’š

🚸 Learning to move through the world with confidence! 🚸

Our youngest scholars are learning that everyday moments can become powerful learning experiences.

Through our Pedestrian Safety Neighborhood Experience, students practiced making safe choices, learning traffic signs, navigating their environment, and building independence through hands-on learning.

A special shoutout to Denise, Angelica, and Breanna for helping bring this field experience to life, and to Ms. Jennifer and Ms. Curry for supporting the experience by having their students create the buses that made our neighborhood come alive. đź’šđź’›

At ITAV, we believe children learn best when they can see it, practice it, and experience it. We are preparing our scholars with the skills and confidence they need for the world beyond the classroom.
