Hyde Park Garden Fair

Hyde Park Garden Fair The Hyde Park Garden Fair is Chicago's oldest community garden sale. We host two annual garden sales and foster neighborhood gardening projects.

The Hyde Park Garden Fair is a neighborhood gardening club that operates as a committee of the Hyde Park-Kenwood Community Conference (HPKCC). It hosts two garden fairs each year in the spring and fall. The proceeds from these fairs are used to support the HPKCC and its programs, as well as to beautify local neighborhoods through various gardening projects. We maintain several local gardens includ

ing Nichols Park, Spruce Park, areas of 53rd St. and "Harold's Garden" (named after Mayor Washington) in East End Park. Each year, unsold plants are donated to mid-South Side neighborhood organizations. These include schools, churches, mosques, synagogues and other local non-profits. Teachers and residents may apply to the Garden Fair for grants to fund public projects such as parkway and street corner plantings. Plants and bulbs are donated directly to churches, synagogues, schools, hospitals, and other nonprofit organizations. We provide money and plants for sidewalk planters along commercial streets. If you have general questions about Chicago gardening, the Spring or Fall Fairs, or if you wish to join as a volunteer, please get in touch!

All the Garden Fair members want to send a HUGE thank you to our customers--what an amazing sale it was. A tremendous turnout. And everyone was in a great mood, turning the Garden Fair into the enjoyable community event we always hope to cultivate.

And another shoutout to all the great neighbors who volunteer every year. Without the volunteers, we would not be able to hold the Garden Fair (we're all volunteers too).

At the end of the sale, there was nothing left. The few straggler plants that remained at 3:00 on Sunday were quickly carried away by the local nonprofit groups we donate to at the end of the Fair.

We hope to see you again on September 19 at our annual Bulb and Mum Sale. We've already placed our orders for alliums, irises, daffodils, tulips, hyacinths, crocuses, and more.
