MEChA de UChicago What is MEChA? Our weekly meetings are held every Tuesday at 7:00PM at the Bartlett Lounge!!

Mecha de UChicago is both an activist and culturally recognized student organization that utilizes community service, political involvement, and education as a means for change. MEChA is part of a larger national movement and our specific Mecha chapter is both an activist and culturally recognized student organization, that uses community service, political involvement and education as a means for

change. Mecha is not only open to Latinx students, but also to anyone who identifies with and commits themselves to promoting culture, history and higher education as devices for change. Our chapter is continually striving to improve our historical legacy by incorporating feminist and q***r practices into our organization to create safe, healthy space for engagement. We encourage individuals who are invested in social justice issues such as mass incarceration, gentrification, and immigration to join us as we work to meaningfully address these problems through action and discussion.
