CCR assists the animals that are the MOST vulnerable in our city and throughout the midwest - the dogs and cats that are slated for euthanasia because they are too old, too young, too injured, have disabilities, or have simply been overlooked for too long by potential adopters at other shelters.

Zuko has a favor to ask! We’re running low on some much-needed supplies at the shelter, and we could use a little help restocking!

Here’s what we need most right now:
🐾 Wet puppy food
🐾 Adult dry dog food
🐾 Easy Walk harnesses
🐾 Dog treats (Zuko really wanted to make sure we got more of these 😉)

Chloe is a special lady who is still looking for a home! She is currently loving life with her foster, but would like a place to call her own. She is a high-energy and ball obsessed lady who needs an adults only home where she can be the center of attention (honestly, fair).

Hi friends! Coming atcha this Friday morning with a request - we need a couple of fairly updated, ready to use tablets! Do you have a tablet with updated software, in good shape, that you don’t need? We’d love to accept it as a tax-deductible donation. We use tablets at our adoption and fundraising events to help share our mission, accept donations, and show off our adoptable pets, and the two we have right now are too old to update to the necessary software to keep doing their jobs. 🐾 FOSTER FRIDAY: RICHIE 🐾

Richie has been waiting since December 2025.

He has spent months watching other dogs leave the shelter while he waits for his turn. And as much as we love him, Richie desperately needs to get out of the shelter.

He needs a home where he can decompress, build confidence, and continue working on his skills. More than anything, he needs someone willing to give him a chance.

Here’s what Richie is looking for:

🐾 Dog-savvy human: someone comfortable reading dogs and giving them time to build trust
🏡 No kids in the home: a single person or couple would be ideal
🤝 A few meet-and-greets: new people can be scary for Richie at first, so we want him to feel comfortable before heading home
✅ Muzzle-friendly: Richie is muzzle trained and walks beautifully in his muzzle
🧸 A lover of stuffies: seriously, he LOVES them
❤️ A little patience: once Richie knows you’re a friend, you get to see the incredibly loving dog underneath all those nerves

And you won’t be doing this alone. Richie has an entire army of people rooting for him. His CCR team, trainer, volunteers, and supporters are ready to surround his foster with guidance, support, and plenty of encouragement. We want to see this guy thrive just as much as you do.

It’s October 💀👻🎃 and do you know what that means??? Well two things - National Black Dog Awareness Month and the official start of SPOOKKYYYY SEASONNNN!! 🖤🧡

And what better way to start the season off than a feature from on our of goofiest black dog boy- Goosebumps! 🕸️🕷️

He’s currently in a foster home with his dog foster brother and cat sibling too! His foster brother has helped Goosebumps become a well rounded gentleman!

When goosebumps (aka Goose) first came into CCR he was very shy and nervous. His foster family has helped him open up and his dog foster brother has taught him how to be more: confident on leash, he follows him like a little shadow, goosebumps is doing great with potty training, and would be a great addition to any household!

While Goose does fit the black dog theme….he is anything but scary! Goose much prefers silly costumes and pumpkin carving. 🎃

So if you are not a fan of getting spooked this Halloween season apply to meet Goose online! 🧡🖤

Meet the Pasta Litter
- Macaroni (female pink collar) 🩷
- Rigatoni (male blue collar) 🩵
- Ravioli (male black collar) 🖤
- Spaghetti (female orange collar) 🧡
- Penne (female purple collar) 💜

These pups are getting their final vaccines and are set to be spayed and neutered then they will be available for adoption!
