We’re looking for a few good fosters to host some of these babies for a week or two - in pairs or a trio! Multiple puppies are so much fun, and they’ll entertain each other and you all week. Juice is HOME ❤️ Buckle up because this is a long one! Every adoption we see fills us with joy and gratitude…but some of them are extra special.

Juice arrived at Chicago Canine Rescue in April 2025. He was incredibly loving, endlessly entertaining, and the kind of dog who could make a best friend out of just about anyone he met. The challenging part was that Juice needed something a little more specific from his future home.

He needed to be an only dog. He needed to wear a muzzle on leash. He could be reactive toward other dogs. And finding someone who could understand all of those things and see the wonderful dog underneath can be a little harder to say the least.

But here’s the thing that is so important to understand: being a dog with different needs does NOT make them a bad dog.

So we kept showing up for Juice.

Our team worked with him on training. We found foster homes willing to learn what made Juice successful. We watched him build relationships and show us, over and over again, just how loving he could be. And eventually, Juice found his long-term foster home. And then something incredible happened. His foster decided she couldn’t let him go. ❤️

After over a year of waiting (and learning!) Juice finally has exactly what he needed all along: a person who understands him, advocates for him, loves him completely, and knows what a special dog he is.

And Juice? He is still Juice. Still best friends with everyone he meets. Still an absolute joy to be around. Still deserving of all the love in the world. In fact, he has a whole neighborhood who knows and loves him!

This adoption is a beautiful reminder that rescue is a team effort. It takes trainers, foster families, staff, adopters, volunteers, patience, persistence, and a whole lot of people willing to say, “Okay, let’s figure this out.”

We are so incredibly proud of Juice. And we are even more overjoyed that after all this time, he finally gets to go home.

Heck yea, Juice. You did it buddy - you found your unicorn. 🦄❤️

And to everyone who helped him get here: this is what your work makes possible.

We’re taking over the Goose Island Barrel House for one unforgettable night celebrating everything that makes Chicago Canine Rescue so special—and the incredible community that has made 25 years of rescue possible.

New kids alert! These tiny boys are being fostered by our friends at Trio Animal Foundation ❤️ they won’t be available for adoption for a couple more weeks, but they are already thriving!

Another fabulous week for our boy Flash! Flash weighed in at 50.8lbs this week - he’s halfway to his goal weight - only about 15 more pounds to go! To celebrate, he went for his first walk around the neighborhood with his good buddy Jake. Scroll for an epic derp smile 😂💕

Meet Dee Dee, a beautiful 1-year-old female Pitbull mix who recently arrived from Cicero! 💓💐

This precious young girl is the ultimate “all-rounder” companion—she is just as down to gear up for a long weekend hike as she is to curl up on the couch for a movie marathon. We are still learning all of her unique quirks, but we already know she is an absolute sweetheart who thrives on human affection and loves love.

Because she is still settling in, we are currently evaluating how she does around other dogs and recommend slow, managed introductions.

If you are looking for a loyal, affectionate, and adaptable best friend to join you on life’s adventures, Dee Dee cannot wait to meet you! 🩷🤙🏽
