Scale LIT ScaleLIT promotes equal access to high quality lifelong learning opportunities in order to build healthy and sustainable communities.

Formerly CCLC, ScaleLIT was incorporated as a 501c3 in 1999 as a forum for representatives from the Hispanic Literacy Council and the North, South and West Side Literacy Coalitions to convene and share common interests in the promotion and delivery of literacy services in Chicago.

Collaboration has been at the heart of scaleLIT since our founding as the Chicago Citywide Literacy Coalition.

On October 22, we're bringing together all three of our Literacy Coalitions for a special in-person kickoff to reconnect, share resources, strengthen partnerships, and help shape the year ahead.

Throughout , scaleLIT connected with communities across Cook County through hands-on workshops focused on digital footprints, online safety, and AI essentials.

From navigating technology safely to exploring practical uses of AI, participants built digital skills and confidence for everyday life and work.

🤖 As Chicago builds an AI-powered future, are adults equipped to participate?

This weekend, scaleLIT Executive Director Becky Raymond joined leaders at CHI + AI: Building an AI-Literate Chicago, hosted by the Chicago Public Library and the Chicago Public Library Foundation.

Our key takeaway: True AI literacy requires a solid foundation of digital skills, critical thinking, and lifelong learning.

As data from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC) highlights, the urgency is clear: 31% of U.S. workers lack digital skills, and nearly one in three (30%) struggle with Problem Solving in Technology-Rich Environments (PSTRE).

Digital skills are essential for everyday life—from accessing information and services to continuing education, finding employment, and navigating the workplace.
