Clean-energy affordable housing effort launches in Chicago

Now the two are launching a company that they hope will provide quality housing to lower-income residents in Chicago, and avoid gentrification, by harnessing the potential of energy efficiency and solar. Plant trees for cleaner carbon free air.
Of all the solutions to climate change, ones that involve trees make people the happiest. Earlier this year, when a Swiss study announced that planting 1.2 trillion trees might cancel out a decade’s worth of carbon emissions, people swooned (at least on Twitter). And last month, when Ethiopian officials announced that twenty-three million of their citizens had planted three hundred and fifty million trees in a single day, the swooning intensified. So how does the "Clean Peak Standard" work ?
The basic idea was that renewable portfolio standards (RPS) — requirements by states that a certain amount of energy come from renewables — bolsters clean energy development, but it’s not necessarily designed for use when the grid needs it most. This leads to challenges such as California’s “duck curve” that occurs when solar generation quickly drops off and has to be augmented with peaking plants, often run on fossil fuels.
